My work toolbox knife

I like the design and shape. (And I have a real soft spot for beater knives that just keep on keepin' on.)  :tu:

Me too Nix, and I've always thought that if the Tang went all the way this blade would really deserve a makeover with a nicer handle material

Day 03:
The 119 clearly dwarfs the others. I really like the beefy 119; however, for day to day utility, the 110 and 102 steal the show in my book. There was a question about the handle material of this 102. I beleive it is Buck's standard phenolic resin stuff, just in 'red' as opposed to black. I'd call it 'maroon' or 'ox blood' but Copper and Clad went with 'red'. I like it!
Love the handle, guard, and pommel on the 119!

There are some really nice knives so far, especially some nice fixed blade one.

I had thought about doing a couple fixed blades today but then changed my mind.

Day 3

I figured today I would go with my current favorite, the SAK Yeoman.  For the longest time the Compact was my favorite SAK.  It was such a simple toolset yet so useful.  The biggest thing I missed was the phillips driver.  Then I discovered the Yeoman existed.  After a lot of looking, I finally found one in great shape and a price I would pay.  I instantly fell in love.  The whole toolset just works for me.

I did sharpen one corner of the combo tool, not to impact other functions, so it works nicely for package opening and added some custom scales I found on etsy to make it my perfect SAk.

Day 3. Since I'm continuing with fence work, another case of: Good enough knife to where I don't mind using it, cheap and common enough to where I don't mind losing it.   Thus, today, I chose the CRKT M16-10KZ; which is $30 from pretty much any Lowe's that carries knives.  Until I went higher-end, it was my main EDC for close to a year. It is light enough to where, unlike the bigger knives I have shown before, it is comfortable even in these lightweight shorts. And the deep carry clip won't get knocked off.  This one is much smaller than the full-size model, at 4" closed with a 3" blade. That's enough to get the job done and fall under the limit of 3.5" blades in West Virginia (I live in VA; with no blade limit in my area, but WV has 3.5" statewide).

I am going with a full-sized M16 eventually for work. Today found the 10KZ is too small for gloved hands. Currently, it's the M16-14ZER that gets my attention, being AUS-8, and having a strap cutter. But, that stinkin' glass breaker. It ruins seats and hurts hands. On some knives, glass breakers are threaded and easily removable. But, I don't know about the M16's.

With the fencing work on hold for a bit, I think tomorrow, I finally have the chance to (finally!) go traditional.

Day 3

So for today's blade we have the newest addition a little Eafengrow EF11 sheepsfoot monkey tag folder in D2. No real story behind this one; I just felt like buying it and somehow it ended up in the cart with some stuff my wife asked me to order....

Looks great! A lot of the less expensive knives I own were purchased solely to get over a minimum for free shipping, a discount, and/or a free item.  Or because--"It's not that big, is gonna ship in the same box, and no one's gonna notice it" .

The CRKT M16 series was my first folder. I liked it. But when I bought the griptilian it was an eye opener. From my opinion at least. From now on it’s a SAK though

Day 4

Out first thing to replace the squirrel feeder - they’ve finally managed to break this one! Wenger M61 redacale 1965 (my BYSAK - thanks again Myron for supplying it) does the screwdriver duty.

Day 03:

Today was a Buck 110 day. This one was issued with "Paperstone" scales. These are essentially a paper micarta. In this configuration the 110 in light and easy to carry. Out in the yard, the 110 pruned some branches and cut some irrigation line as I continue to modify the system to accommodate Winter's effects and some new plants.

(Image removed from quote.)

While the 110 took care of small stuff, I had to pull out my Silky saw to prune off the remnants of a previously pruned limb on a young Maple tree. Hey, at least it's growing!

(Image removed from quote.)

I love this saw! Cuts on the pull cut and cuts with determination. An excellent blade to have on hand.  :tu:

There were a few questions about the 102...yes, I got it right this time...the 102:

(Image removed from quote.)
Top to bottom: 119, 110, 102

The 119 clearly dwarfs the others. I really like the beefy 119; however, for day to day utility, the 110 and 102 steal the show in my book. There was a question about the handle material of this 102. I think the silver goes well with the red handles Nix  ;)

As fragile as the "paper micarta" looks I assume they're very sturdy. Borg has a 110 one in red I think

Day 3

My work toolbox knife
A no name wonder with a gift shop look to the rubber handle, the only markings on it are Japan and some numbers,
My daughter spotted this in the Sand about 30 years ago on one of the islands in Halifax harbour, it eventually came to work with me and never left,
It opens packages, cuts belts and hoses, scrapes gaskets helps with lunches and any other abuses I can put it through, and really doesn't show it

What an interesting find, and who would have guessed it kept on going after 30 years?

DAY 3

My Buck 124 Frontiersman for day three.  I do a paracord wrap on this and my 119 as I've had the rivet pull through the leather in the briers on one of my older 119's and there's a possibility I might cry if I lost this knife.  (I also add some tennis tape wrap to the handle, because they polished the micarta on these scales to the point they kind of defeated the purpose of micarta - imo)

I like the tennis wrap, looks really functional!

Nix, thank you for the comparison photo, it does put their size into prospective.  With the 'ox blood' handle 102, does the balance point of the knife center near or close to the index finger?

Benchmade Bugout and Bailout, ultralight has been one of the 'theme' for last year, and in between the two, I actually like the Bailout a little better.  Slightly more robust, and 3V offering is pretty unique.
