DAY 6 ( part 2)

While I knew it was the Anniversary of D Day my brain never made the connection of posting a tribute as part of this challenge this morning

So here we have a knife that I am proud to be the current owner of , a Fairbairn Sykes early 3rd Pattern Commando dagger. This one has a hand ground blade , No. 2 mould number on the handle and the guard is marked with the Broad Arrow and the letter I which indicates it was made for the Indian Stores. All this points to it being made by the famous Wilkinson Sword Company.

Also featured is a 1943 British Jack knife and a No. 36 M MK 1 Mills bomb also dated 1943.

Handy little trick with the marker line  :like:

I love the marker trick, but in the shot I posted, the appearance of residual marker ink is a trick of the light! (I had to double check, after I saw the photo.)

Day 6: This is a model I've known for ages. My grandfather had one for working in the field. The design is very old, I think it's one of those traditional knives nobody really knows where they started. Here, it's called a Foiçado (from Foice / Sickle).

DAY 6
TOPS Moccasin Ranger.  I've carried it a few times, but it has never been my first choice for any chores.  Looks cool, though!
They say the pen is mightier than the sword.   However... there is a dead guy here with a Bic in his hand and a Samurai walking away.

Day 06 (bonus action):

It turns out that tonight is chicken night...  :ahhh

As they say (well, mostly just me): no chicken, no challenge!

I just used the 940 to split this chicken in half. The backbone, scapulae, pelvic bones, and wishbone (broken  :-[) were removed. The sternum was split and sternal bone taken out.

This is a smallish sort of knife, but there is something about it that gives me the confidence to just horse my way through rib bones. The tip is a bit obtuse, but still fine enough to feel out and separate joints. So, in that respect, the Benchmade 940 works about the same way a Buck 110 does for me in completing this task. That's a lot of knife in a small package!  :tu:

Day 2:

So today I was going to post a pic of my knife, but instead I think I’m going to go with this screwdriver “blade”.

My brother closed on his house earlier this week, and today the movers showed up with all his stuff. Of course I was the only person with tools, so I was the one to reassemble the baby grand piano (legs and pedals) with my SOG PowerAccess.

Not the right tool for these massive flat screws, and it was at the limit of this small tool in terms of flex and thickness of the driver. But it went together well enough.

Plus who gets to say they put together a grand piano with nothing but a small multitool!

Used the blade to open packages and the opener on beers and on a wall plate to see what the deal was with all the random Ethernet ports.

I really love this tool. It’s not the most comfortable in the hand, but I’ve used every single tool on it in the month or so I’ve had it, and it’s supremely portable and far lighter than I thought it would be. The blade is long and narrow, but I find it actually a super useful shape. I think it’s now my favorite lightweight multitool for EDC.

Charles.

Day 06 (follow-up to the bonus action shot from earlier):

I figure I owe you guys a shot of the completed chicken (and it's a good excuse to sneak in an extra shot of the fabulous Benchmade 940.). The chicken got a rub of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and ground cumin. It then had a 45 minute spa treatment on a hot grill. Here it is served up with a little olive oil and some chopped chives from the garden:

It was better than it looks.

Day6
Since there has been some discussion of mushroom knives I decided to bring one out. No it is not something I use; just something cool that I found in a pawn shop.
Here it is pictured next to the pruning knife that I showed off a couple days ago.
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi
