DAY 7

As promised on Friday evening here is the object which was under my bed wrapped in a bin liner.

A friend of mines son works in road construction in London , mains water supply to be more precise. Now one day they were digging the road up to replace old water pipes that were 90 years old , as they uncovered the old pipe laying on top of it was this French bayonet. What was it doing there ? Who knows but it’s been down there for 90 years  :o my only guess was it was a WW1 bring back and at some point the owner wanted to or had to get rid of it.

Pretty cool bayonet with a mystic origin!

Awesome day six with all the commemoratives.

Day 7.
Ek commando Bowie from the Blackjack era. Had one Ek made from late eighties but had to hock it. It was a better knife than this one. This has had some mods by me. Still a really solid knife.

What was you mod on this?

Oops!

Is this a 21 with Insingo blade?  I have been thinking about the recent 31 and read mediocre feedback about it.  Some fans were suggesting to get the 21 while it's still available, and avoid 31.  What's your take on that?

Fox 500D

My first ever damascus knife. I got it with a nice discount at the first DKE (Dutch Knife Exhibition).

It's a small 21 Insingo, yes.

I got this one second hand for a great deal (relatively speaking) and I haven't got a 31 myself.
I do find that the improvements as stated by CRK sound great and I like the fact that the hole in the front scale has been ommited by a change in manufacturing, allowing a single large inlay slab instead of 2 seperate ones on the 21. Obviously that's a non issue if you're not into the inlays at all.

Resale wise, getting a 21 might allow it to hold it's value a bit better compared to the 31 but that's something only time can tell for sure.

So you have multiple Damascus blades?
Any you can recommend as "affordable"?

Love the Damascus, Chris Reeve (I’d love one of those someday, especially a CR Damascus......one day!), intriguing bayonet story! Inspired by the cookery going on here and taking unleashed at its word:

Day 7

My Miyabi 5000 ECD 8”, bought when I really couldn’t afford it several years ago, but 50% reduction couldn’t be missed and I knew I’d regret not getting it, so I did! Here I’m making a version of an arabiata sauce which involves hours of dicing prep, quite therapeutic really - I also made a shepherds pie at the same time as the sauce is freezing, it should provide enough sauce for 14 portions after a couple of hours on the hob.

Thanks!  Yes I have more than one, I´ll be posting pics on Sundays. There are many brands offering damascus, my best advice is to select one of your favorite knives and then get a damascus version of it. As for affordability, well I can´t look inside your wallet, but there are some Chinese brands offering nice damascus knives at less than E100. Otherwise, expect a price of E200 or more.

Fuzzy Bits Day 7

Inspired by Powernoobs yesterday I dug out this - a Boguszewski Spike of unknown origin.  I bought this at the turn of the millennium and, to be honest, didn't think much of it until I took it on a trip to BC a couple of years later where it absolutely excelled itself as an edc... especially farting about in the woods. I don't know the make, I'd like to think it's a Benchmade, but I doubt it, although the deployment is super smooth and super fast. It's one of the very few combi-bladed folders I tolerate have.

Yes it’s a  Model 1866, Chasseport, Yataghan Sword bayonet made at the St Etienne armoury. This one is dated 1892.

That is a real treasure, Dunc!   :like:

A commemorative of sorts,albeit a reproduction.
I rehandled this Boker AF Smatchet for a friend, who then gave it to another friend, and then it came into my possession. A special piece,to me.

Yes, we will see about that.  I have on and off reading from the CRK subforum on BF, and some of those feedbacks, though probably honest, are slightly discouraging.  CRK has always pride itself on aerospace tolerance and robust design, but pacifying customers telling them lock rock is one of their new feature just sounded too much like cutting corners to me.  :dunno:

Had the Leatherman SideClip in my pocket today.
The blade is a tad shorter than the one on the PST, but still very useful...

Day 7

A french bayonet brought back from the great war by I believe my Great Grandpa on my mothers side,  dated 1877. The William Rodgers was given to me for my 8th birthday.

Maybe someone who can read french can tell me what it says   :dunno:
