Case Fixxit multi tool model number 712
on: December 29, 2019, 01:43:44 AM
While I am not sure the year this unit was released, Case actually did make their own version of a multi tool and this was USA made.  This was developed by none other Walter Blackie Collins.  This was named the Case Fixxit model number 712. Below are several images of this unit.

This Case Fixxit #712 utilized stainless steel thumbscrew sliding mechanism functionally with knobs and included a knife, two slotted drivers, a coin driver and two Phillips drive sizes.   If anyone is curious what the barcode was this was 21205 00712.

Haven't seen anything like that before.  Doesn't look very convenient to use.  What's a "safe knife"?

There is some information about this tool on the Multi tool Encyclopedia,  yet this didn't have the packaging images or model number.   This is certainly an  usual design, however I cannot imagine this being used for anything other than very light duty use.

In all the years of using tools, especially knives, I've yet to read the terms "safe knife" from any manufacturer either.  This goes without saying this has long been discontinued, yet I have no idea what year this was made and when this was discontinued.

EDIT:  These aren't my images, I just found them online.  Definitely not information that will be on Case's website and I strongly doubt most that are employed at Case would have much information about this unit.

I have a bit of a collection of these, and particularly the promotional version advertising various companies that was marketed by Zippo.

There was also the "Shooters Tool" variant which had speSmurfpillst drivers ( for adjusting gun sights ? )

All of mine are either loose, or in a box.  I don't have any in a clamshell.

The regular Fixxit boxes have a sticker with "ORDER # 00713, FIXXIT, UTILITY TOOL" computer printed on it.

The Shooters Tool boxes have  a sticker with "ITEM # 00714, SHOOTERS TOOL,  FIXXIT" computer printed on it.

The Zippo promotional versions came in a black Zippo box with "Fixxit, POCKET TOOLBOX" on each end flap

Fixxits were a different concept for a utility tool, but rather bulky for the toolset, and definitely not a sales success.

If you have time and are willing to do so Gregozedobe, this would be interesting to see images of the Case model number 713 Fixxit utility tool and the model number 714.  What are your thought's on the vintage of this series?
