Setting up a gaming room upstairs.
on: December 02, 2019, 12:02:30 AM
I have two upstairs rooms that I use mostly for storage these days. I have been toying with making a gaming room out of one of them, and have slowly acquired a few things to make that a reality. I just got done disassembling a bed upstairs to make some room and have also moved my Pachislo slot machine up there..what a back breaking exercise that was. Not looking forward to lugging the Pachinko machine upstairs anytime soon. I do have it stored for now, where the slot machine was downstairs. I bought this around 2010 and it is fun. I had to cut out cardboard mufflers for the twin speakers as it was freaking loud. Now it is much better.

The model I have is a Sankyo Super Stadium Soccer. It lights up much like a Christmas tree during play. Sink a ball into several places, and the drum will start spinning. Get higher and the whole drum will rotate to show 3 different spin sets. The most hilarious thing about this machine, if you get high enough, it will start playing Yatta. Just don't google it as you will encounter a bunch of singers in their white underwear with leaves strategically places...you have been warned.

I just finished doing a test on the unit, as it was in storage for a while. Everything is working as it should.

So the idea is to bring both units up, as well as my mini game system collection, and a few other odds and ends to make a small gaming room. As it stands, these units are taking up valuable space in the living room. It is slowly coming together.

Ouch... lot of weight to lug upstairs...

Spare rooms :dd: can I have one?

If you're into flight simulation, this would be the right time for a 3 degree-of-freedom chair setup with integrated controls :D
Cheers!

Never really got into them. I do have the Phoenix RC Pro Simulator with a real RC controller installed on my laptop...as I once was going to get into RC flying. I decided after playing with the simulator I wasn't cut out for such an expensive hobby.

I do not own one. I never liked the smell let alone the taste of coffee.

Clicking on the topic I was fully expecting a dark room with several large PC monitors and a gaming PC that looks and sounds like the Batmobile.......and maybe a comfortable chair.

Despite a life time in IT I'm not a gamer..........so this was a nice surprise!

Sounds fun.  Heck if you've got the space and toys it should make for a nice space.

Not sure I have that much space. I plan on keeping the computer table where it is...just right of this photo. I managed to squeeze both units onto on section of the room (my old Leather work station). It took forever to rearrange the room somewhat, and am still in the middle of cleaning it up and throwing stuff away. On the plus side, I found a few things dating back to the early to mid 2000s when I used the room as my home office/computer room. I plan on setting up my retropie machine as well as the Pandora Key machine in there as well.

Thinking I might use that wall tool panel for controller storage, etc. I still have a long ways to go yet. Cleaning the old computer desk of cat throw up and old items is still on my list of things to do. I am getting a bit excited that I may see an end soon, and it will clear up so much living room space. If I play my cards right, I may be able to use one of the desks as a microscope station. That would clear up even more living room space. On the plus side, I will be re utilizing a little used room.

Sounds like a good room to destress and kick back for some fun.

Just cleared off the old computer desk and gave it a real good scrub. Hmmm...that 32" TV looked good on the downstairs cart...but looks positively tiny upstairs. Maybe I might need a new larger TV in the future.

Anyways, got the Pandora's Key installed. With 2177 games on tap, that alone should keep me busy playing the old arcade classics. Now all I need to do is clean up the room a lot more...as the room still is a mess off the screen. Next after that is to figure out where the RetroPie collection will go.

Still got two older computer systems in the room. They were big bad systems back in 2009. Lol. One is in a giant Cooler Master Computer case, and the other is in a bonkers Thermaltake Mozart tower. I should tinker with them, but that will be for a later time.
