Movies You Wish They Would Make...
on: December 31, 2019, 08:03:10 PM
I was in a discussion with a friend a few days ago and we were talking about the increasing trend of remakes and lack of originality in some of the movies that have come out recently. In our discussion, I mentioned the fact that with all the effects technology available, I am disappointed in the fact that they have not made a decent Cthulhu movie. The iteration I would love to see is something along the lines of the Titus Crow books by Brian Lumley. The Lumley books are a great continuation of the HP Lovecraft Cthulhu mythos in which the titular character actually does battle with the evil forces.

A movie I loved that I DO wish they would remake (if they stick to the premise of the original) is "Dragonslayer." To this day that remains one of my favorite movies. The dragon looked mean and had the coolest name EVER - Vermithrax Pejorative! A bit of trivia, the name of the dragon translated to "The Wyrm of Thrace that makes things Worse."

Also, if Hollyweird continues to insist on remaking movies, I wish they would stop with the whole "Director's Reimagining" thing that tends to eviscerate much loved stories. There is a reason classic movies are so popular, trying to improve it rarely seems to work.
Rather mundane quote entered here to approximate humor.

I would pay good money to see 'Arsonist Zombie Nuns vs Demonic Cthulhu Killers, Galactic Blitzkrieg - A Love Story
'Use the force Harry' - Gandalf

Very original idea for a topic  :tu:.

I for one would love to see a "big budget" movie about the German invasion of Belgium during WWI.

Not many people know about the brave Belgian soldiers that held off/slowed down the powerfull German army.

There have been numerous "small" battles in the area where I live, in towns like Haacht, Rotselaar, and the last cavalry charge in "modern warfare history" near the town of Halen (this last one is also know as "the battle of the silver helmets", Click here for wiki info).

We Belgians suffer from very low self esteem when it comes to our country's past, and a lot of Belgians even make jokes about our military (e.g.: our tanks have 5 gears, one forward and four in reverse...). But if we took the time to study the facts (this should be part of the history lesson at school over here), maybe we all could give the fallen soldiers the honor they deserve (there are ceremonies every year at these places, by the military and the few people who know their history, but the majority has no idea what really happened).

So, if anyone here has the phone number from Tom Hanks and/or Steven Spielberg, please give them a ring :salute:.

And yes, I would be fine to have the famous actors speak two lines in Dutch and/or French in the opening scenes before switching to English, like Tom Cruise in the movie "valkyrie".

And as cast I would like to suggest Leonardo Dicaprio, Christoph Waltz, Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Matt Damon, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Robert de Niro, Matthias Schoenaerts, Christian Bale... And I'm open for other suggestions as well.

And a lot of the scenes could be shot on their real location  :pok:.

Until that one comes out, you can always watch "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"

Me, I'm very much looking forward to MAD HEIDI, I mean what could be more thrilling than a heroine who carries multiple SAKs in her garter.

What I very much would hope they produce is a sequel to Battle Angel Alita (and a spin-off with only motorball :P) and a sequel to Valerian would be nice too. And the crew that made Rogue One should make some more Star Wars movies, maybe they could team up with the Mandalorian crew (just stay away from the "last jedi" crew).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I would love to see a movie of Winged Victory by V.M. Yeates. It's a semi-autobiographical war story about flying Sopwith Camels in the First World War, in fact it's actually an anti-war story. A less-patriotic title could be substituted - perhaps Yeates' original title Wingless Victor.

And just to jazz it up a bit the pilots could be orcs. Shame to waste all those orc costumes

The final showdown could be a dogfight with Smaug or the Nazgul.

a wolverine movie with Mel Gibson playing wolverine.
Hugh Jackman,while being a good actor,did not,in my opinion,adequately portray wolverine's manic rage.
think Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 2,but with claws.
he'd play a brilliant old man Logan too

They could make a movie about Carlos Ghosn's 'exile' from Japan. That would be interesting.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

I might be crazy but it's kept me from going insane- Waylon Jennings
