Look at this crap!

I'm home today just trying to catch up on odd jobs around the house. I saw the Surge, stuck a pocket clip on it got to it and started farting about with things. When it came to the actual point when I needed to use the tool I had a hell of a time trying to detach it from my pocket and this is why, look at this - the tolerances are so poor on this thing that the clip just slides about all over the smurfing place!

Got a reply from Leatherman, it was very polite and courteous as usual, but in essence it said, Don't use the pocket clip, it's not designed for the pocket clip... Well then, why's it got the sodding slot then?!

Just bought a Charge TTi plus and the file wouldn’t sit all the way home in the closed position, on investigation there was a burr on the floor of the inside of the compartment stopping the tang fully sitting home. I managed to remove the burr and all was good but then I noticed the serrated blade had up and down movement when locked open , this is due to the lock bar being weak and not extending fare enough to engage the lock face of the blade. If you force the bar over it hits the blade but then springs back when you release it. Bit disappointing on a tool that costs so much. Think I’ll send it in for warranty

Well I sent it in to Whitby and co the UK LM distributors along with my very worn Wave which had a lot of play in the pliers. 14 days later I got a new charge and a new Wave plus. Both tools are perfect and I mean perfect as I went over them with a magnifying glass

Things turned out ok for me in the end but this isn’t the first time I’ve had to go through this. When you buy a new LM there’s always that worry it’s going to be defective when it arrives.
