In home EDC?

We can’t deny it anymore- our world has changed. 

The big question is, how has your EDC changed to go along with it?  With many of us being largely housebound, do you need less options in your Every Day Carry, or, are you carrying more because now you finally have time to look at that Honey Do list that you have been avoiding since you didn’t have time before?

Either way, we likely all have time to re-evaluate what we are carrying, and this week I am looking at my latest acquisition- the Gerber Versafix machete.  Look for a new review coming soon!

Whatever you choose, stay safe out there- you are going to hear a lot of stuff, especially online about the threat posed by the coronavirus, but this is a serious one that you should be concerned about.  Even of you don’t believe it is, there’s no benefit to getting it or helping to spread it.

With our very international community, it’s not often that I can quote Red Green in his North of 40 segment and really mean it:

Not much has changed as I’m not home bound (healthcare worker) but my re-evaluation of my carry is alway in-going. I stopped carrying my knife at work when I saw a psychiatric patient look at it (if he saw it so have many others and I’m not providing any of them a weapon) so now I carry my Gerber Crucial IWB at about 1 o’clock along with a pair of trauma shears in my back pocket.

No change in my EDC as I have adopted a modular carry system. The basis is a Pioneer paired with a classic, which I also carry at home. Depending on where I go (not many places these days) or what I do, I add a Spirit or Swisstool. Works great for me

Given, I live on a farm, so pretty much, the most I'm carrying is typically at home.  And, I'm slowly getting the lawn and garden (and heavy) equipment up and running for the season. Tuesday, it's going to be a service job on the UTV and the John Deere 5400; thus the whole work carry of ST300, bit adapter and kit, PocketWrench II, Knipex Mini Cobras and 250mm linesmans pliers, light, and a decent folder.  Right now, I've just got a Huntsman in my left sweatpants pocket.

At home, Victorinox Mate and Explorer. Folder is Schrade sch305.

Out and about I switch folder to Firstedge 1350 with Elmax.

Yardwork, Victorinox Outdoorsman and Folding Karambit.

I love my knives and use them all regularly.

Same old in my pockets. It's the same whether I'm in or out to be honest. I always get fully dressed each morning whether going out or not. Never been one for lounging around.

No change. This is pretty much how I've been living for the past three years anyway. 

I'm currently doing an extended carry run with a congress pattern traditional, coupled with either a neck lanyard array, or a separate lanyard that's hitched to the belt and pocket carried.

If I need anything more, it's very close by.

I dyed the nylon ecoline scales black a few months back. Then I decided I wasn't sure I liked it and started to sand it back to red. I was doing it gently and after a few rubs I realised I had a 'look' going so I played with the theme till I got what you see.

As I have been retired for two years, not much of a change for me.  My EDC has not changed.

I'm also in healthcare but I work at several hospitals in.. let's say.. sketchy.. areas where the current atmosphere has led to more car break ins, catalytic converter theft, and assaults on hospital property than ever before as the homeless population and general populace has gotten even more more iffy than usual.

To that end while I still do not (and cannot) carry a knife on hospital grounds (even though I work in surgery with all sorts of sharp objects) I have started to carry my CCW at the suggestion of our head of security who tries to be realistic with what his limited staff can and cannot do.

I also try to escort the nurses I work with at the end of our shifts out to our cars no matter the time of day. Some of these nurses are feisty country gals and I pity any tweaker that threatens them after a long day.

Pretty much this. Still, I started carrying my Kershaw Scalion, just to use as a fidget toy. Love to flick it open and close it, changing from right to left hand.

Some times, just holding it. Love the smoothness and warm feeling of it.

Oh! That´s Böker´s Congress Whittler. Very nice !  and very unlike the traditional congress pattern.
I´ve been trying to get one with ebony covers from the USA but with postage, insurance, taxes etc. it almost doubles in price.

No change for me, carrying the Pioneer as my work knife. As an electrician I'm on call out from home for essential repairs etc , so figure its easy to clean if it gets exposed to nasty stuff, could even dishwasher if really concerned that it needed full on sanitising

That's the one! Though I've also seen it called Congress Carver, or even Carver's Congress. This one is in oak, which I quite like. Good luck on the hunt for an affordable one

At work is MP-400, Vic Ranger and Kershaw shufle (love this little one).

But in home I grab what is in my reach. Usually the Cybertool or Trail Guide, MP1 or Spirit. US1 is the folder of choice. Like as it disapear on the pocket.

No specific home EDC for me, but today this is in my pocket and it helped opening a delivery of nuts (no, not the edible ones, more like M8×1.25 @ 11 mm hex spanner size).

No change for me; because I'm in an essential government position, with the exception of being on call every other week, I have to be on site as my schedule demands it. So sadly no blades of any sort, but I have a pocket full of gloves that slowly disappears throughout the day.
