I always saw the Douk-Douk as being a good item to have in a PSK.

Ben, I had to look that one up!  :D

Sorry, should have given more info.

I'm not a huge fan of the Douk Douk as an edc folder, but they would be great in a PSK as they are super thin and hold a scalpel sharp edge.

LOL!!! It's a 7-11 aluminum slurpee straw that I cut down to fit the Otter Box. I guess the idea is to drink water from it when clean water is found. Ah heck... it looks cool!  :D

I've started to build my own PSK. It contains: a 4x4 piece of moleskin, Pocket Duct duct tape, three band aids, two butterfly closures, a benedryl capsule, two tylenol (in a packet), Uncle Bens Silver Grippers, Vic LumberJack, LM Micra, excellent little firesteel, a Wetfire cube, safety pin, P-51, small amount of kevlar thread/needle, little fishing kit in small bag ( 5 hooks, 2 split shot weights, about 60 feet of 20lb test fishing line, and a few little grubtail lures), a tea bag, some oragel, little iodine tablet bottle (for water purification) and lastly some a few salt and pepper packets.. Anyone have any advice on how I could better this? By the way, I just bought two Otterbox 1000's. Thanks, I feel pretty equipped with these items, but I feel like I forgot some things. I don't have the OtterBox's yet, but I am pretty sure I will still have more room.. Thanks again

I thought the straw was metal!

Edit- I added a few things from my AMK S.O.L: small compass and the signaling mirror.

Perhaps some type of antibiotic ointment or vaseline the ointment for cuts and scrapes and the vaseline has many uses like fire starting and keeping hands and feet from cracking :tu:

 Perhaps a 91mm Vic ink pen refill I can't think of anything else at the moment ;)

Good list though, hope kit goes together nicely :tu:

Rather than cram ever increasing amounts of kit into your PSK's, learn all you can about situations you might be facing, then pack accordingly :)

What is the pepper for? To induce emergency sneezing?

Lose the pepper and pack a few screw eyes and small nails in there. Maybe a zip tie or two. I'd rather have it easy when it comes to making snares, fish traps, and shelter than to have pepper for food I don't catch.

I don't know about that Micky... my head weighs a ton. I'm thinking of lightening it up like that guy wants to do with his swisstool spirit, but... the thinking about it just makes it heavier.

Looking good I was about to say a compass wasn't mentioned. Add a small pencil and some paper, preferably a few sheets from write in the rain kind. A magnifying glass is nice to have and a mini bic + some matches overkill with fire is always a good thing. You might not have room in a small kit but keep a few space blankets around the car etc...

oh btw pics would be nice  :P :pok: :pok:

Great thread guys, given me lots of ideas for putting something together.  Strangely the timing is perfect as I had happened to pick up a Altoids tin at my local Supermarket when I saw them for the first time.  I was surprised to find that Altoids are an English product, I had always associated them with the USA.  Nice mints too.

Reason I was  asking is that right after reading your post I was watching one of his shows and he said the same thing about knowledge doesn't weigh anything :D and that is very good advice :tu:

Thanks to this thread my wife now thinks I'm a nutter.  ::)  Just as a bit of fun I thought  I'd have a look around the house and see what i could put together in an Altoids PSK.  I think I ended up with something quite respectable.  :)

So I have:
Pencil with tape wrapped around
cable tie
plasters
torch
ferro rod
safety pins
cotton wool pads
matches
SAK Bijou
elastic band

Since taking the shot I have also added a couple of ibuprofen capsules.

When my wife spotted what I was doing she spent a couple of minutes laughing about "zombie apocalypse survival kits".  I believe she finds it an "endearing" trait in me.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.
