It's an officers' piece and so hasn't any issue stamps but the general form and style put it around 1780's-1820's.

Not a great pic but it's the bottom one show here.  The scabbard is one I had made up for it.

the top one is a 1885 troopers sword.

That's beautiful

And that Scabbard looks a very tidy effort :tu:

I would love a Royal Navy Sword from around 1780 -  1820 . How much are they worth.

At a guess lot's, because I doubt many survived the harsh conditions terribly well, let alone the number that went down with the lads that carried them :(

Yeah, but you're more likely to find a Royal Navy one than a French navy one. :D

I used to come here a lot.

I'll just chuck as much as I can in the car.

At this rate, I may well have a second "Big Red Shiny Toolbox", one for Leatherman, one for lesser tools  :P

An aside - we should have something to commemorate the event. Something like a Vic Classic with the dates on or something? Affordable, but worth keeping. Anyone got any ideas on that?
How about something like this... http://www.fox40whistles.co.uk/#

Whistles? Naaaaah.

Leave it with me boys, I''ll sort something out. Would be useful to know, how much people would be prepared to contribute towards a souvenir though. I thought that £15 each would get us something pretty fine, what say you all?

I used to come here a lot.

Seeing as we're paying so much to get there a tenner does sound good :D

But if you must insist on using the thumb screws then I guess 15 notes will be fine ::) :D

I've got some ideas, but of cours ethe more we spend - the more options we have.

I'm working on the assumption that whatever "it" is, it has to be engraved / permanently labeled in some way, to commemorate the event. What "it" actually is, isn't that important, but I'd like to make it a surprise, and hopefully something useful. - Do you agree?

£10 is fine with me guys, and at least I know what my "budget" is.

I used to come here a lot.

Hmmm. 4 people willing to pay £15, and 1 @ £10, isn't going to get us too far guys...

Dennis at www.gerber-tools.com has agreed to forego the shipping charges if we order the artifacts from him, but we need a few more takers at approx. £15 before I get my credit card out!

I used to come here a lot.
