Ok, new year, anyone gardening?

I know it’s a little late being the start of April, but we haven’t had any decent weather to even start, I think we’ve had two days that even went over 65°, but we’re going shopping today to pick up bulbs to start..
This year we’re not planting as much as we did last year, I think we over packed it, even though we read on each one and gave it as much room as it required,, oh well, that’s in the past, anyway, here’s an old pic of the garden, it ain’t that good looking now, but we have to clean everything up, here’s also a list and layout as to what and where we’re planting this year..
We also got some bibs to mount to the 55g drums, this way I don’t have to take the screens off each time I have to fill the watering can up, although filling it’s probably going to take forever, I’d like to plumb in a watering system but all in time,,

I guess since I brought it up I’ll ask, but does anyone know anything on irrigations? Like I don’t know how to plumb but I ain’t got the slightest clue on irrigating, in my book I’d have to raise those 55gal drums above everything and just run like 1/4” tubing around the garden and just turn the valve on, but I ain’t putting those drums up, so a pump would be my only thought, and solar would be nice! Thoughts?

I should've put some plants in our raised bed already but I haven't been able to make time.  Hoping to do it this weekend.  Half of it we're starting from seed, the other from seedlings.

Some decades ago our neighbours did some indoor gardening... the operation was successful enough to get in the papers. Even some state organs got involved.  :D

It's always good to have a plan JR!

I don't have much to add, but if I had to start a garden I'd probably do potatoes too, so I guess for whatever it's worth you get my  :tu: :tu:

That would be the only thing i can give advice on for indoor growing🤣
But its legal here in Germany, so whatever.

We have a good size garden, my wife plants stuff, i'm just there for digging and carrying heavy stuff.

Well, It was about to be here as well, but then... I don't know what happened. But for personal use. This thing was full on automated everything NASA level industrial operation. The police were quite shocked at the sophistication of it all.  :D

Finally got the garden setup.  Just need to pick up two Roma tomato plants tomorrow.

I'm trying for cantaloupe, corn, lettuce, Roma tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, serranos, habaneros, strawberries, radishes, and green onions.

Looking good, :tu: idk when we’re starting, maybe tomorrow? :dunno: Today it’s suppose to hit 52° yet tomorrow it says over 70,, so who knows, also depends on the Mrs and how she feels, although with her it can be 85 out and she’ll still be cold  ,, I did put the drums out because it was suppose to rain and both got 10gal, so we now have something to work with, I never put the spigots in cause I was in a hurry to collect the rain, so they’ll wait,, yet as much as I want to put in a drip watering system in, connecting a line from barrel to barrel would work so I wouldn’t have to keep one full, yet I also thought, rather then getting just one decent system, get two cheap ones, thus put one on each barrel so they’d do the job, no? ,, oh well,,
Hey anywhere near San Ant?

I've been thinking about a water capture after I saw your setup.  There's one spot in the back of the house that I could probably make work.  By make work I mean that the wife won't have to see it and be annoyed by it and most of my neighbors won't be either.  :D

I think we picked the 55gal drums(3) up for $30, There’s all sorts of deals out there, and the catchment can be done all sorts of ways! She broke and bought the system I’ve had my eye on, so I took a list of what it comes with and freehand drafted a layout of the setup I have in mind, talk about cutting it close, they better not cut me short, but here’s a pic of what I came up with,,

Well I did the one part of the drip system, the Mrs said it took 20min, yet all done by eye, heck the Mrs even helped. it was lower 70’s but with high winds which just felt amazing, especially with the sun, oh it felt so good for once to go outside! Since I did the one part so fast the Mrs said to cut the backyard since it needed it!!

Well stage two is done, the solar panel and pump/controls are installed, yet I also ran the main line around the bed, I even ran two of the takeoffs that I have in mind, yet it doesn’t work? The pumps got umph, but after about 2sec it just cuts out, it gives a code yet I looked it up and it says “you don’t have enough water!” Like huh? The filters submerged and the sensors are also in the bottom of a 55gal drum and there’s 15gal in it, so I’m just stumped, and of course there’s contact info in or on the box, so the Mrs was done, she’d had enough, so had I, when I came in I was red, yeah, this years first official sunburn, it’s like yesterday was just perfect, yet today nothing wants to go right, it’s nuts,, oh well here’s a pic,

Well, since we came in and did nothing but not want to move, I ran back out and grabbed the box of junk and just sat on the floor and cut all the pieces to complete the setup, I put the tee’s and stakes on the pieces of hose and well, tech I was done, all I had to do was just go outside and connect them to the main line, so I ran out and was done in like 3min, yet after I did everything I turned it on and the same thing, it runs for not even 2sec and just cuts out, then it gives a code, which is, “you need to put more water in”,, yet it’s sunk into 15gal of water, it’s the sensors, which are fully submerged, yet if you take them out and press them together it won’t even do anything, I’m stumped,

Ok, well, come tomorrow those sensors better be satisfied, we are getting slammed! Poor Rosy is hidden under the bed, yet Dex is on the couch just crashed.. here’s a couple pics, the rain is coming down so hard it’s triggering the motion sensors on the security cameras, thus why the camera lights are on, you can also see it flowing from the downspout and into the barrel, heck the winds are pulling the mesh cover off..

There's nothing clogging the main line?  Piece of styrofoam or something?

Nothing.. If you look at the one pic you can see it’s damp around the couple spikes, so the pump is working but it just doesn’t want to continue, with the storm we had last night the 55gal drums are up to 45 and 40, yet I tried it again this morning and it says the same, there’s not enough water,  :dunno: so I just don’t know?
