I loved both Under Siege and the sequel.

Last night for our last movie of 2023 we watched a movie called "The Big Year" a comedy about birders with Steve Martin, Owen Wilson, Jack Black etc. Actually quite charming and enjoyable.

Sea Fever 2019. Irish fishing vessel with an unfortunate voyage.  Good movie.  Why do Irish films always have such good musical support and actors?  End credits feature song 'Shallows' by Daughter.  Good stuff.  Best wishes.  G

There's a Piranha from 1972 with diamond hunters and a psychopath.  Also a Piranha from 1978 which is a comedy.   I haven't seen the second one.  Which one are you watching?  Best wishes.  G

Piranha 1978 version is billed as comedy/horror.  More campy/horror.  I watched the rest.  Not a great movie.  It did have horror movie legend Barbara Steele in a supporting role.  Best wishes.  G

The 78 both the wife and I thought were pretty good for being something back in 78, we can’t get the 2nd but there’s a remake back in 95, so we’ll see,,

You might like the Piranha 1972.  No connection to the later films.  It has muscle man William Smith in it.  The name might not ring a bell, but you will recognize the face instantly.  Definitely not a comedy.  Best wishes.  G

Ok, just finished the 95 version, the wife and I looked at each other in shock, it was sooooo like the 78 version, I would say 75% of the quotes were word for word, same for the video, nuts!

High Plains Drifter 7/10

Starring Clint Eastwood (1973 )

A gun-fighting stranger comes to the small settlement of Lago and is hired to bring the townsfolk together in an attempt to hold off three outlaws who are on their way.

Pretty good western on Netflix right now.

Wonka - 8/10

As a sort of prequel it's fun and entertaining. I'm not a musical guy, but the tunes and dance numbers were well done. LOTS of Easter eggs for the 1971 version, which I really enjoyed. Gets points knocked off for some of the acting and story gaps, but definitely worth seeing

The Father (2020)

No politics, just a heart wrenching story of losing one's mind to old age. Stellar acting by Anthony Hopkins, never seen better from him. 10/10, no joke.

Citizen X (1995)

10/10

Based on the true story of the investigation of a Soviet serial killer. It won an Emmy and a Golden Globe, and rightly so. The time just flew away. Great performances, excellent writing. This is a TV movie, so the budget is not astronomical, but the film does punch above its weight. This does the "Russians speaking English instead of Russian" thing, which I am not a big fan of, but I got used to it quickly and it did not bother me.
Highly recommended.
