Apologies for two posts in such rapid succession, but all four photos I wanted to post were over the limit for one post.

That said, today I would have celebrated Mrs. FX's birthday as well. (We didn't know Beijing's exact date of birth, but I thought it was amusing to celebrate the two on the same day.) So I thought I'd share the story of how Mrs. FX came to love Chihuahuas.

Not long after we became a couple, we adopted Avery, a German shepherd/Chow mix. Mrs. FX had a Chow when she was a young adult.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

One day I came home from a day of hard work. Avery was there to greet me. I said hello and she looked so nice after her bath, and then I looked behind her...and said, "and who are you?" I initially thought she had agreed to "dog-sit" for someone, but I was wrong. Walter had crawled under our fence.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

It was love at first sight.

Avery and Walter got along well with each other and our cats. They made the move from Fresno to Detroit. We lost Avery in 2016, and Walter in 2019. But Walter made a lasting impression on Mrs. FX. I knew she'd always want to have a Chihuahua.

After about a month, she asked me if we could go get a little dog. I said yes, and off we went. When she returned to the car holding Beijing, I knew it was better than having won the lottery. Beijing was misidentified as a Pomeranian/Shih Tzu mix (thus her name, which stuck), but her Chihuahua lineage is obvious. I know these three little dogs brought Mrs. FX much joy.

:iagree:

I have been forgiven for the bath and missing blankets. Beijing's birthday is celebrated today, but instead of birthday cake, she got peanut butter.

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

Eating peanut butter, in my opinion, is one of the two funniest things a dog can do. (The other? Chasing its tail.)

Happy Birthday Beijing.

Someone was on the bed all nice and comfy, yet she rolled over and fell off, oops, but she was fine and got back on and made herself comfy again..

Dogs really can touch our lives and make lasting impressions.  I think the misidentification is funny, because the me Beijings face is pretty clearly Chhuahua.

Then again many people think Fisher is Shih Tzu and cannot see any Boston Terrier, which is what drew me to him.  I had no clue about Boston Terriers , when I was looking for a new dog to replace one who had just passed.  I passed a sign on the road advertising Boston Terrier puppies.  One of the puppies ran right up to me.  Loved him.  So when I was looking for a dog  I really wanted a Boston Terrier mix, hence Fisher.

That they can, after we moved out of Philly and got a house we wanted a dog, we looked at a few but none of them really clicked, then a friend/coworker knew we were looking and his neighbor told him to have their dog put down because it jumped, (even though they thought it) the family was so bad with him, the kept him locked in a under sized cage and would put him out when it rained, let alone when inside smoked all sorts of things and would blow it into his face, so my friend called me at work to ask if we would take him in and I said yes just take him to the Mrs, she spent 2hrs sitting on the floor brushing him which filled a whole trash bag, when I got home he would not let me in the door, the Mrs had to talk him down showing him I was good, the first week he slept downstairs but after that he slept in our room in the loveseat at the foot of the bed, until I built him his own special bed, but that dog bonded with us, when we had our 2nd son we didn’t know how he would react, I stood on the porch with the kid and the Mrs took the blanket inside and let him sniff it, then I brought him in, I placed the seat on the bench and he came over as I held him back but all he wanted to do was smell him then place his head on his chest, the funny part was both her mother and my mother were there, when my mother went to pick him up the dog stood in front of him and wouldn’t let her, yet then her mother did the same and he moved,, anyway, when my health changed and my seizures were diff, that dog picked up on them, at first we did noticed, well how can I, I’m out, but after a while the Mrs noticed something, if I was in bed he would lay on top of me, he knew they were coming, one day I came home from work I felt funny and that dog went nuts, I sat in my chair and he pinned my arms down and kept licking my face keeping me alert, the Mrs found out I didn’t take my Rx that morning, so she had to pull him back to even let me take them, after I did that dog kept at it for 45min then backed off, needless to say I didn’t have one and by then the Rx must have kicked in, he just went over and sat by the baby, life threw us a lot of challenges and he then passed, it took us a few years to even think of getting another dog, but again we looked and none really jumped out, till Dex showed up, they brought him over and well that’s another story,,

Meet Luna, a.k.a. Lunatic
We've come home before and this tiny 4.5lb dog is on the dining room table.  She has eaten an entire stick of butter, with no ill effects, not sure how that happened.  She will attack the wife, if the wife trys to touch me.  Does parkour off couches, people, anything and everything.  By far the craziest dog I've ever had.
