Funny you should ask.

Bill self-isolated for a while, but after a few weeks he felt it was safe enough to resume his duties.

He's been working away at developing a vaccine. I applaud the effort, but as far as I can tell it's just water. I think he's been amazed at the sight of clean water and believes it is something new.

While he's being working away, the crew has been busying themselves with goofing off. I sensed that things could get out of control and asked Bill to give everyone a pep talk. He gathered everyone up and gave them a medical talk about the virus and the importance of social distancing. Then promised that they would get extra salt in their porridge. I think there were questions about exactly how that would improve morale...

Medical got out for a hike today....

With Covid restrictions loosening up and the now well established fact that Lego Mini-figs are not likely to get Covid-19, Medical Bill decided it was time to get out for a bit of an adventure.

Inga is still not convinced that it's safe to go out in public and refuses to leave her Altoids tin. Bill was a bit annoyed, but then I suggested that he contact Monty. Monty was eager to get out and readily agreed to get out for a hike. With a favorable weather forecast...albeit with a wildfire warning...the lads decided to set out today.

So they set off for the hills.....

Just a word on equipment....

The last time I tried to set out for a hike with Medial Bill and the crew we had a little problem. I'm not a particularly fast walker, but I hadn't gone six steps before I realized that the Mini-fig team had moved up the trail an inch!

So, for this outing I made a platform that mounts to my hiking stick. Medical Bill was at first slightly afronted, but when I explained that it was called the "Crow's Nest", a vaguely nautical term, he seemed to think it was a good idea. Using the Crow's Nest, we made good progress and covered several miles of hill country.

A little way down the trail, Monty and Bill found a nice cliff face.

Monty suggested that they climb the rock face and enjoy the view.  Bill hesitated and said that he wasn't too confident with heights. (Even the Crow's Nest seemed to make him a little green around the gills, but I put that down to his natural complexion.)

Monty offered to do a little training and decided to teach Bill some climbing and rappelling.  Bill wasn't sure that he'd gotten the technique down, but Monty remarked that he seemed to be a natural abseiling "Australian style."

Training done, they proceeded onwards and upwards.....

I wasn't really convinced they were working together as a team.  Monty took lead while he had Medical Bill belay him as he went up.

Something didn't seem quite right with their technique to me, but full marks for the effort.

High up, they took shelter in a small cave and rested while we had lunch. Although nobody had thought to bring a lunch.....

Just as we were starting to relax and ignore our hunger, Bill suddenly screamed "Bear!!!"  He had heard a noise emanating from the cave and concluded that it was a hibernating bear. Although....the bears aren't hibernating right at the moment. And it turned out to be a  Chipmunk.... Which, I suppose if you are a small plastic Mini-fig, might be even scarier than a bear.

In a flash, Bill was up, knife in hand.

I'm not sure where he keeps that knife, perhaps a leg caddy or a boot or an IWB sheath....

All in all, a nice hike. The lads enjoyed some scenery, got a bit of exercise, and have a few stories to tell.
