Trying to spread some love for the big small Ranger :hatsoff:

Does anyone of you have a preference for the drop point or clip point style?

The both look sweet but the clip looks more at home on the 112 frame   :tu:

I do appreciate the clip point on the 112 for finer tasks.

Let's see how I think about the drop point on my 110 after the April Fools challenge. It might leave me curious about a clip point one.
I shall not buy more old school LMs or new Bucks for a while though

For my every day tasks the clip point seems to suit me better too.

I'm still trying to figure out what niche the 112 fits into.  If I wanted a larger, locking knife, why not go with a 110?  If I wanted a blade around 3" long, the Squire and 301 Stockman both have 2 3/4" blades and are half the weight of the 112.

Nate, sometimes I want a nice handfull grab with some mass to it  ;)

It has done certain appeal that I might not be sble to explain rationally.

The 112 certainly is more heavy duty built/capable than the Squire.

Interestingly, on the subject of the 112...

https://www.buckknives.com/blog/the-history-of-the-112-ranger/

That certainly explains why Buck came out with the Ranger in the first place.  I was a little surprised to read that the 112 is right up there with the 110 and 119 in terms of popularity.

When I first heard this story, many years ago,I was skeptical.

After discussing this with an esteemed member of BCCI,I became convinced it was true.

Thanks for sharing nate.

It's a Revolution XT, Buck collab with mountaineer Pete Whittaker, a sort of folding fixed blade, really smooth movement on it too  :tu:
