BYSAK 1965
on: June 01, 2020, 06:03:31 PM
What seems like an absolute age ago (only last autumn) I acquired a Swiss Air 234k, which with Kamakiri’s kind help, we dated to mid-1960s which sort of served as my BYSAK, but not precise enough to earn the badge. During the Soldier 30 challenge, I admired many of Myron’s magnificent collection of soldiers, especially his red-scaled M61s dated 1965, my birth year, so it came as a total surprise when he PM-ed me to offer to supply me with one. What a marvellous thing to do! Naturally I accepted his offer, and he was kind enough to post it to me straight away, and within 2 days it arrived in Heathrow, London, where it sat for over 3 weeks - all the more frustrating as it’s only 21 miles away from me! Anyway, the wheels of bureaucracy ground extremely slowly, but it did finally emerge and reached me 1 hour ago -  :mail: :woohoo: So here it is together with its twin in spirit, and a huge thank you once agin to Myron, who is a true Swiss Army Knight and gentleman to boot, as all those who took part in the international zoom meeting can testify!

I don´t think I´ll ever find a BYSAK that´s both affordable and in good condition (1962).

Affordable is subjective, and 1962 is not nearly as common as some of the earlier 1960's issues.  I would say you could get something nice if your budget is in the neighborhood of $200 USD.

I´ll never pay $200 for a SAK (unless it´s a Rob Lessard custom, then maybe).
