Help me decide
on: January 05, 2009, 03:56:21 PM
Having just got some doner SAKs in (thanks again Neil) I want to either make myself a Scientist or a Yeoman.  The Yeoman is a better stand alone SAK but the Scientist is a great minimal SAK and I can always put a classic in my pocket if I really think I'm going to need Scissors.  Your thoughts please.

PS I not promising to make the one with the biggest vote but it sure will help me make up my mind.  :salute:

Scientist, though I always feel its not quite right building existing models (that is just me though).

How about doing a Scientist but with something different in place of the combo tool?

I'll go with a Yeoman, as like you say it's a better stand alone tool :)

If you are really torn, make a Yeoman and carry it around for a while. If you find yourself regretting the decision later, then you can just do a quick layer removal and have a Scientist.  ;)

I'll throw another kink in your plans. Add a saw to the Scientist and make a Spudman. But since you asked to pick between a Scientist and Yeoman..I'll go Scientist

Good idea.  Or what about a file, more suited for urban use and adds next to nothing to the thickness.

YEO!

If you want to make it distinguishable from a "real" Yeoman (or Scientist)
use a new-style magnifier,  since all the real ones have old mags.

I would say build the Scientist! I have one, and if it wasn't for you guys; I wouldn't have know that it's a rare SAK! Nevertheless, it is still an excellent model, and I am looking to buy another to use..

Or what about pliers instead of scissors.  A micro mechanic?

I feel the same.  Modding as I see it is where you make something your own.  Re-creating a model just doesn't seem right.

How about a Scientist with a phillips?
I'm back!!

What, you don't like that idea?  You can be sooooooooooooo picky sometimes Neil!  :D

Sorry, didn't think that through, was just trying to think of the easiest way to make the Scientist his own without adding any layers.

I'm back!!

I vote for the Scientist plus one additional item to make it unique.

I suggest a fish scaler. Then you will have an Ichthyologist.

OK I think you have convinced me to try and do something more than the Scientist.  I quite like the idea of adding a saw and making a Spudman, I think I might use a back tool to add a little extra.

I'm not promising that it won't be pulled apart again to bring it down to two layers though.  :)
