DAY 4

Got my pictures working again  :woohoo:.

I've got my Case Mini Trapper with me.  Its on cheese duty  :D.  Felt like a quesadilla for breakfast.

Here are pictures of DAY 2 and DAY 3 as well.
Day 2 was working day snack and refuel. Camillus got the call on day 2.
Day 3 was out in the yard putting down cardboard as my weed barrier.  Sod Buster shines on tasks where I dont want to foul up my prettier Trads.

Glad your pics are up and working again mate.

Got to love a Case mini trapper.

I had similar feeling about the Soddie

Me too!  Until I grew a custom to its cutting abilities use of the blunt design.

IMHO, it you prefer a clip point, the Sod Buster will be less loved.  If you like drop points the much less a transition.

When younger I trapped, and used my trapper’s splay blade, and I could see using a Soddy for that purpose.

Several firms make the design, so a following is there.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Day 4 - Independence Day in USA.

Today I selected a Muskrat, first time carrying this knife since purchasing last fall.

In honor of my father who carried this model because he would always have a sharp blade in his pocket.

Gec tae Fuzz Day 4

Mr Pemberton's working out to being a pretty decent gardening knife. I had my doubts there too because of its dinky stature, but It's got a nice weight to it and sits in the hand well, patiently, while your fingers fiddle away with bits of string etc.

As you can see it's just starting to develop a little bit of patina... Dean would not be happy.

(Image removed from quote.)

I didn't know Dean was an anti patina guy, I miss him all the more so now, so am I!

Dean helped me out with my Lionsteel Roundhead. Fixed up a bad grinding job done by a so called expert and refused to take payment for it. A really stand up guy, great to talk to and much missed.

Day 4. Wanted something a little bit patriotic.

2006 Case 63087 Medium Stockman in red jigged bone and Tru-Sharp.Boy Scouts of America Edition. I got this knife in November of 2007; for my eleventh birthday, and I'd started Scouts early that year.  It was my first Case and is still one of my finer ones. Kinda wish I'd gotten the Hobo instead, but I was out of Scouts by the time I knew Case did one.  It was my dress Scout knife worn whenever in full uniform.   I lost the shield within a month of getting the knife. For close to ten years, it was shield-less, and I put in a request, and Case sent me a new shield. I cleaned the slot incredibly well, and glued it in so that it would never come out again.  I was the Chaplain's Aide; who in that case, was actually the father of my patrol leader. Our Patrol Leader is now a Sheriff's Deputy here in my county, and my two friends who got me into Scouting, both brothers are now officers in the Florida Highway Patrol and Orlando PD.  Others went into the military, and my Scout Leader's son, who was on our patrol, is a diesel mechanic for CAT.  Due to some problems with my mother, I had to pull out of Scouts when I was 13. The judge (who got into some deep trouble, was sued and facing criminal charges, and resigned a few years later, when a child was murdered in CO or UT if I recall by the boyfriend of a woman who he'd given custody of the boy to; and whose father my folks knew) really screwed up and allowed her way too much leeway and visitation rights when my grandparents (who'd raised me since birth, and, were, more or less, my parents) won custody of me. It kept me from attending most of the stuff we did, aside from meetings.

I have kept both Scout uniforms I had (outgrew one) in the back of the closet for some reason. My Scout belt was my everyday wear belt until the (USA-made!) buckle started slipping due to wear and tear. It had been through three OD green web belts!

While we had the post-Camillus Bear and Son sourced official knives in our Scout Stuff catalog (and I remember wanting the Adventurer knife which was John Deere green and yellow), I never owned an Official Scout knife until several years later. I think the 1047 (which Bear and Son also made after Camillus for a couple of years) would've upended the Case as what I'd carry for dress occasions when I was in full uniform. I spoke with Ken Griffey a few months back, and Bear and Son still has the "Carpenter's Whittler" pattern, but haven't used it in years. Given how popular the Camillus 72 and its clones over the years are on another forum I'm on, I think it would sell very well.

Most of the day, however, I had a knife that has helped to defend our country,a 1961 Imperial "Demo" knife I happened to find here locally about 5-6 years ago.  I just realized that in small scale, I don't have very much Vietnam-era military equipment at all. Most are WWII era Jeeps.

 :like:

I think the Kamp King is probably in the top ten in terms of the knives who have had the most units produced and sold. I would suspect millions, if not tens of millions, have been manufactured. They were sold practically everywhere in the 1950s.  I think I'll carry mine tomorrow. I've noticed some are smaller and slimmer than others; I think those are older. It's definitely one of my favorite patterns. And, for many reasons, I suggest it be the knife everyone should get, whether it be someone who is just getting into traditionals, or even trying to add a few old knives to a kid's collection or their own. There are some non-shell handle versions with solid bolsters from the 1920s-1930s that are very rare and expensive; as are some variants in which "KAMP KING" has been replaced on the shield with various advertising.  While I have many Imperials, the Kamp King is the one I carry and use.

The Top one is an Arto Rouennais Slipjoint I got when I was in France, totally an impulse buy when I saw it in a knife shops in Southern France.  One may argue the design left something to be desired for(the pivot is totally off centerline) but the fit and finish is perfect when considering it is a handmade knife.

Below is Tree Brand buckskin bone Stockman.

@Steve what a great gift for Dean.  I like carbon but I was happy to get my SS Case Mini Trapper.  I can see the advantages of SS on a Trad especially for those who aren't fans of patina.

RR jigged Copperhead for me today.  Nice knife but I'm reminded that I don't carry it often as it's a weighty thing for it's size.

Nice start to Day 5 so far.

Comis both knives are lovely.  The handmade one is particularly nice.  I don't mine quirks when an item is handmade  :tu:

Powernoodle you #6 is one of my partners favorite.  She has one in her lunch bag at all times.  I don't think she's brought it to me for a sharpen come to think of it

Gareth RR sure makes some nice trads.  Is the weight do it being stainless throughout?  I like the thumb stud on the blade does it work as intended?
