Day 5; the smaller Kamp King. Note the top one is bigger, bulker and thicker; while at first, they look like the same knife, but aren't. They don't share a single part. All blanks are bigger.  It is also made MUCH cheaper, despite them both being shell-handle knives. I think the smaller one is ca. 1950s or 1960s, and the newer one, 1960s-1970s.

I don't know when either were bought new; as my Granddad dated most of his knives, and I can easily compare that to known variations. Imperial used the same tang stamps for 30 years. A knife made in the mid '50s has the same markings as one made in the late '70s or early '80s (after that, Jackmaster shell-handle knives were produced in Ireland).  I inherited the larger one from my great-uncle, and thus don't carry it. The smaller one came in an eBay lot and has seen much use.

And this is the dangler I made using an old snap hook I found. Due to the bail being removable, it is easy to take on and take off, without other junk having to be attached to make the clip removable as I do with pinned bails.

Can't beat that Cody!  It's at least as tough as most of the factory lanyards and a great deal less expensive.  I'm carrying my Kamp King tomorrow.

I am really enjoying all the carries  :hatsoff:.  I went thrifting today and bought some house slippers.  They zip tie they shoes together so I used my S&M to free them.  Not a bad deal either.

The Mini Trapper helped open a bag of chips for a snack for me and opened a special treat for Fisher.

Great info Cody and a great pair of knives.  I still have a Irish Imperial Hobo knife somewhere that I used in the Cub Scouts for a while.

Day 6

Rough Rider while bone Canoe.  My first ever RR that I bought after folks over on British Blades started raving about them.

I"ll eventually pick one up just to see what they're about.  The bone covers are really nice.

Case Muskrat Caribbean Blue Bone and XX(?) LE Salmon bone Whittler.  I gonna admit I was being drawn to the colorful scales of these traditional.  The Whittler is a small mystery to me, I remember knifeworks marketed it as XXI limited edition, but the blade clearly says it is an XX(terrible blade rub, I know).  I did look on the web and got mixed results about whether it is an XXI or XX(or does it matters?)

A strange thought comes into mind--what if you mixed up the snacks, do you think Fisher will go for the Jalapeno chips?  :pok:
