I just picked up an S557 Evolution.  It was $10 less than the Evogrip version.  As it is, I'm concerned about the Evogrip material peeling away from the scales.

Anyone have an opinion on durability?

It's pretty hardy to be honest and you shouldn't have any problems :)

Literally the only reason I still don't have an Evogrip is that there are no Plus scales involved.

I'm guessing Victorinox knows this.

I've had an Evo Grip...18? Basically a Fieldmaster. At anyway, I've had it for a year. Haven't used it recently, but I carried it on a couple hikes, EDC'd it for a little while, and had no issues with the grip tape coming off or peeling. It's kind of nice, but it's not as if my plain cellidor SAKs were slipping and sliding all over the place to begin with.

I have been regularly punishing an EVOGrip model for over a year now and I can honestly say that it still looks new and untouched.  It isn't stuck to the scale, so there's no chance of it peeling off.  It's a neoprene insert that sticks out through some cutouts in the scales.

Very clever.  Much better than a "paint on" rubber surface (like Duraliner/Herculiner).

Good to know
