The newly reinvented rules for the first-ever Wild Man Giveaway:

1. Mechy always wins. ...that rule doesn't seem quite right....

1. Any MTo member can enter this GAW. Fuzzbucket must clean the cheese off his fingers before entering (just on principle.)

2. The GAW began some time in the past, but no one is entirely sure when.

3. The GAW will end 30 September 2020. Unless further server crashes prevent such an event.

4. Every MTo member with clean fingers may enter once in each of three categories.

The categories are:

   Wild Man – Post a photo of a Wild Man/Wild Woman who, for you, embodies an outdoor adventurer, explorer, or pioneer. (see the preceding entries for examples.) Along with a photo, please explain why this person is someone significant and worthy of the title “Wild Man”.

    Wilderness Knife Photo – Whether in the darkest jungles, coldest poles, or outer space an adventurer takes a good knife. Post a photo of your current Wilderness adventure knife. Please add a few comments as to why your current Wilderness knife gets this recognition. E.g. “My only knife is a SAK Classic. That’s the knife that I take on adventures.”

   Adventure Photo – Post a photo of an outdoors place that you have been to. It doesn’t have to be Alaska or Antarctica, if you had an adventure in New York’s Central Park, post that! (Fuzzy’s trip to an outdoor café might be considered adventurous, but does not count. We’re looking for some place that at least hints of the wildness of the natural world.)

6.  The contest ends dinner time, 30 September 2020, Nix time. Entries made after dinner time will be excluded.

7.  From the list of successful entries, one entry will be selected at random. That random entry will be the winner of the prize.

The prize:
A slightly used, but still in great shape Bark River Knives Moussaka Slicer Bushcrafter.

Just for the record, I’m recreating my sample “Wild Man” post here:

I was an avid sailing enthusiast when I was a wee nipper and was just learning the difference between a halyard and a stay in ‘78. So it was big news when Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewic became the first woman to sail around the world solo. I had yet to learn to jibe with out risk of capsize. Sailing around the world seemed impossible and was an inspiring feat.

Krystyna set off in March of 1976 from Spain and returned to Spain two years later in April of 1978.

A woman of great adventure, determination, and grit. Plus, she kinda reminds me of my Norwegian Grandmother, who also knew her way around a boat and the oceans, a great adventurer herself. They both share a certain steely look in the eye…..



I believe Krystyna still resides in Poland, a national hero to this day.
