Is there any way the lost posts can be recovered?

Is there any chance I can have an Edit button that does not disappear after an hour?
I can try and fix my posts myself and not bother any mods with copy pasting a million pages.

You'll have to take that up with the big fella - Modifying posts was given a time limit a few years back, there's a story but it doesn't matter - it'd be up the Grand Poobah to review the policy.

This seems more widespread than I initially thought. I'm not sure what can be done but we'll see after Whoey can look into it.

I lost 11 out of my 15 reviews. If this ratio applies to all reviews, we took a massive hit.

I have the text for most of mine, and I will restore what I can, but if lost posts cannot be recovered, we have lost the majority of reviews for good.

I guess that explains why I could not get in for a while today.

When I type stuff up, I tend to go rather fast...and then I read it once and will usually not see any errors until I post it. By then, you can't fix it.

Editing posts has a time limit because someone once deleted all his posts after he decided to leave the forums, causing "damage" to the content.

Now, it's the other way around and more widespread...

Does this have anything to do with Tapatalk?

Not sure, but it appears that all missing posts are the ones posted with Tapatalk?

If I remember correctly Tapatalk never had the time restrictions on editing posts. Maybe there was a hack or exploit or error, whatever, that involved using Tapatalk to clear all these posts. Something like that, clearing so many posts, would probably overload the server which could explain the downtime.

... Sorry mini hijack...

On a side note, I don't see a lot of images these days including most of my own (that's all my excellent Down on the Farm stuff!), a few other member said so too specifically when using an ipad, I mentioned it a while back and I think Whoey said he'd changed a security setting. I don't suppose there's any way to fix that? Or any way to let me edit the posts to fix the links? If there's no images and no posts to half the content, there's not much for me to look at.  :ahhh

It's all over - I'm missing stuff from 2017 to a few days ago, but not too much... I don't think. Nix seems to have taken quite a hit though.  :ahhh

Actually, I've just had a look, what happened to my Down on the Farm thread? I can't find it. Did it get deleted?

Edit. just noticed there's quite a few threads missing.

I took a look at a few of my older reviews, and noticed they still are there but contents are gone. Not all posts have been affected.

1Gb in database, and a very slow AirBNB connection does not help at all.

I miss my home internet...

Meh...I never post anything worth reading anyway..... :mn: But RP's reviews are MTo GOLD. Shame to lose them.

Oh, I haven't used Taptalk for a year or so. So I doubt it is Taptalk specific.

Understood, but are there any updates on what was permanently lost, if anything? And is the fix expected in days, weeks...or months?
