Question regarding Dutch Spirit Swisstool
on: September 07, 2020, 03:03:24 PM
Hi,
Is there any way to tell Dutch Spirit Swisstool from other oxidised (black) commercial spirits?

Thanks in advance

As far as I know the tool itself is the same.

The only thing different is the leather sheath of the Dutch Army version has the “Interservice” logo, and the box has a sticker with the NSN (Nato Stock Number).

The Dutch Army has the "Spirit S BO" (with drop-point blade and sheepsfoot serrated blade).
This model is no longer being manufactured.
Identification is by:
- The extra markings on the box.
- The leather pouch with 'Interservice" logo.
- The manual in Dutch language (although the first batches had manuals in English).

Three different stampings are known: See picture.

Also, never a cap crimper in the pliers.
This is only present in the current BO Spirit models available.

The latest batch of DAK Spirits have a black nylon pouch. This one came in today.
Unfortuantely the seller had removed the sticker on the box which indicates it's Army issue.
The user's manual ('gebruikershandleiding') is in Dutch, dated 2018.

I will post this message also in the DAK thread.

There used to be someone selling these relatively cheaply in the German branch of Jeff Bezos's monster shop - I bought  one after the other because they made great Christmas presents. My brother got one, both my nephews got one each, even my Stepmother got one (yeah she was thrilled) - all in all I bought about 8 DAKs over the years but never kept one for myself. Then when I really wanted one for myself, they were no longer available. I ended up getting a black Spirit X which isn't quite the same thing. The cap crimper is one of the stupidest things that could happen to a Swisstool - basically reduces the grippiness of the pliers, and certainly doesn't improve them in any way. I am still looking for some caps to crimp - haven't found any yet!
Anyway if you do get hold of one of these lovely Dutch Spirits, in its lovely leather case, hold on to it. They're the best Spirits of the lot, I reckon, and they're not easy to find these days (Unless you're in Holland, I guess)

They show up regularly on ebay from a pair of Dutch sellers. Prices are between 100 and 150€ depending on the condition. They may not ship outside the EU though.

Great info
Really thanks
I already have the Dutch soldier knife 2010 (dual pro) and The older one 1993 model
I will add one to my collection.

But from what I have been observing that there are models with Victorinox Logo on top of the "VICTORINOX" engraving and some have it to left of it.
also some have a small shield on the pliers head some not. As I know the first order was put in 2006.
