EDC 17:

Chili making day. For the veggies and big chunk of beef, some proper kitchen knives were employed. But the BAK jumped in to assist with opening a can of chopped tomatoes. The can opener on the BAK is so much fun to use it makes me giggle.

(Image removed from quote.)
Great use! I like to use the SAK opener in every can.
This one on the BAK looks amazing.
The only reason to buy a can with pull tab is to use the SAK hook.

And the Kershaw Cinder to cut more leather. I like this one for more controled cuts.

Day 18

MTO fashion trend continues :D ...last time I wore my Teva was on a beach, still got a little sand from that.

Little guy loves everything that is shiny and mechanical on my table, just in case he wants to pick up the lighter and randomly open the compartment(which the flint may spring out if not careful), I put a little electrical tape under the hood to prevent it being too too easy for him.

Hello day18.
A bit of a Long day in Wellington traipsing after the women folk. A very lot of "Ooooh , let's have a look in here shall we ? "And much iurking in doorways for self. Anyway they have gone off to a shop they have already been to and I am left to my kind.of shopping .
Looked at a few LM Wave  prices - no change from 200US here in Wellington. Silly.

  and  :drink:
That's crazy!  Kinda remind me the 'crazy' thread we used to post on, complaining about all the highway robbery there is.

Day 18

Even with the new hole, my belt was loose, so in the interest of comparison, I used the Rebar for the second hole. Not much of a difference with the Deluxe Tinker's ReamerPunch. The holes took took the same time to make, with the same amount of ease, and they look identical.
(Image removed from quote.)
Congrats!  That's amazing, I remembered just seeing a similar picture the other day!

Day 17
Today used the Spirit box cutter to open and break down a couple boxes, used the bottle opener to open a beer, and used the Yeoman for its pen.  Aside from that the flashlight got several uses.  I also used a piece of paper for a grocery list and a sanitizer wipe after shopping.  Both have been replenished in my organizer.
(Image removed from quote.)
It's from Rite in the rain pad. right?  I didn't appreciate it until I was hiking with them in pocket and it survived all the humidity and sweat perfectly fine.

Day 17: Removed the cellophane from a box of really good tea.  Nothing else yet, which in my line of work isn't a bad thing!
Kinda curious what does Barry's tea taste like? (somehow this comes off a little wrong...but you know what I mean)

  :iagree:
The PPP helped loosening for depth adjustement, then tightening, this knurled screw on my makeshift milling table for my knockoff dremel.

Day 17
I use my Zippo all the time so a refill once or twice a week is pretty normal for me.  I refilled it this afternoon and might have overfilled it just a bit. I dropped it back into my pocket and 30 or 40 minutes later I started to feel intense, localized pain on my leg.  I realized I was experiencing a chemical burn from Zippo fluid leaking onto my leg.  The quick fix was to pull my shorts down and quickly rub a handful of hand sanitizer onto my upper thigh to stop the burning.  Worked like a charm and I transferred the lighter to the cargo pocket so there was another layer of fabric between my leg and the lighter.  I'm fine now, but I'm afraid I'm not allowed in that shop anymore.     (just kidding)
I learn something new today about hand sanitizer curing the burn, for the leak, maybe a small section of bicycle tubing?

Day 18
Today it was minibar's turn to pry open a few nuts.
I love this prybar. It is somewhat bulky but rides unobstrusively on the molle straps on the back of the pouch to come into play when something calls for more leverage than my keychain prybar can offer.

Super busy day with a late rushed in 20min. lunch and some overtime at the end  ::)

Anyhow I've managed to use the Executive and the Spirit today.
It was just a grab intro the pocket away  :tu:
I think I've found a new favourite letter opener  :D

Yes.  I like Rite in the Rain for edc because you never know what the conditions will be when you’re trying to write.  I have just been carrying a few sheets with me, but I recently discovered they have mini notepads that are about the size of a two credit cards stacked.  When this challenge ends one of those will replace the loose sheets.

I think you've one of the best combos in use there Sherry. And compact and nice looking...  :like:
Thanks.  Although this combo is missing one tool many find essential and is one of your favorites - the saw.  I haven’t missed it so far this challenge, but I do recognize it is important for some.  I might miss it if it was summer and I was someplace more rural.

Nice combo yourself.  I was tempted to try carrying the same pair.  The Executive does make a nice small complement to the Spirit.

DAY 18

A bit of a nowhere sort of day today with work and not much going on  :dunno:

However, Mrs Surge returned from the office and is now officially on holiday until 2nd Jan (I'm not  ::) )
That said, I was presented with the Christmas Cheeses, obtained from our usual Christmas cheesemonger
https://www.paxtonandwhitfield.co.uk/

So, as it was a no use day, here's the FX with spoils  :tu:

Usage shots to follow on the 25th/26th etc.. :D

Good work Hevy :like:

I like the Dime too, often gets unfairly dismissed against LM Micra or P4/PS4, TBH don’t think the pliers or file are as good as the P4 but definitely prefer it to the micra, the package opener is excellent and best bottle opener on almost any MT

EDC 18:

This is a reenactment photo. No photos were taken in actual field conditions. However, the 58 opened the packaging for a battery* and assisted in the replacement of an old battery with the newly liberated battery in Mrs Nix's car key. Said key is now functional and Mrs Nix considers me to be a better than useless husband.....for the moment.

* the actual battery in question was a CR 2032. Here, in the almost-no-expenses-spared reenactment photo, a 389 was substituted because the producers were too cheap to purchase the more appropriate battery for this dramatization shot.

Very nice.  I love the green alox.  I saw a green Farmer X on an auction site and thinking about ordering one.  I don’t really need one because already have a Farmer X that I purchased as a mod from before Vic starting making them, but green would match my Pioneer X.

Day 18
Everything going good till now, had to use superglue to fix broken headphones, mini mechanical pencil and small diary are good for many things

I'm really thinking about using a small tin box (like those edc altoids on YouTube) to smartly and efficiently manage my edc
But as it is Dec, I'll start using the tin boxes to manage my edc from January :)
I have several of those tins, which I use for storing a few different items.  I gave several to my Mom’s Girl Scout troop which made mini first aid kits.

Day 18:
Guppie opened a mail piece, contains were liquid gold!
(Image removed from quote.)

I think that if used sparingly I might now have enough back-up bottles for the rest of my life. A good day :)
