Day 5, summer

(Image removed from quote.)

And package opening, thanks comis your a true Gent  :salute: I should have thought and asked you to hold back a while till after FOA  To steal a quote from Stitchy, Thanks for keeping fridges cool  :D

(Image removed from quote.)

Looks great, hope you'd like them!

I'm tempted to get the buffer out on mine too at some point as it's looking a bit grubby, i think comis's super shiny 110 has warped my mind  :tu:

 :D   Polishing it to shinny is real easy, but developing a patina that I would like is harder.

Day 5. Using the "Black Cat" again is it's the most pocket-friendly large lockback I own. Opened up a little bit smaller lockback, and possible contender (WV blade laws are 3.5" or under, and the Mercator is basically right at that plus .06; while this one has a 3" blade, thus legal; even though LE in WV, at least where I am, rarely pay attention). Heck, I was in Tractor Supply and left a Mora on my belt, and no one seemed to notice (but it was the tiny Eldris). I always stay on the safe side; even though I know I won't get in trouble with even a 110 (which I did until reading WV's blade length limit about two years ago on the AKTI website).

Your post is very tempting, I am thinking maybe I too should pull Mercator to play.

Day 6

Been meaning to pick up one of these Stanley cook kits for ages and very pleased I did. The cups it came with have gone into the kitchen as a bit heavy and pleased to say my Ti cup fits inside perfectly so great lightweight set up.
Have to give it a test soon

Can't wait for mine! Thanks again, comis!
Hope yours would arrive soon too!

I was in the FOA Challenge, and after so many variations of the 110, I start to search on Ebay and the web to see what are the options out there.  And this happended to catch my eye.  The workmanship is pretty good and am happy how it turned out.

Day 6: more Mercator action.

I needed to figure out a mount to attach a surge protector to the wall (couldn't get the regular screws in where it was--tight corner behind furniture). Still trying to figure the darn thing out. Used my Mercator as a marking knife, and to sharpen a pencil. Tools used, vintage Yankee Handyman, SwissToo Spiritl, Knipex 125mm Cobra, and about half the toolbox.

Kabar folding hunter attended breakfast duty.  Need to take the little guy for school, and only have time to munch on a few quick chocolate bites.  The citrus mint kit-kat is so sugary, it is not even funny.

What's that thingie in the Mercator keyring? A pry bar/screwdriver?

Proto J-100 keychain screwdriver. It's a design that goes back to the 1920s;  but had been missing from the Proto catalog since at least the late '80s.   In 2016, they introduced a modernized take on it. I didn't know until about a year or two ago that it even existed, when I was going through a 2016 catalog I'd picked up at a local industrial supply business in early 2017; as I needed to order a small 1/4 drive socket I had lost.  It's a really nice solid design.  I had feared, like the cheap Stanley model Proto had rebranded for about 30 years until this new J-100 came out, it would be kinda thin, but it's not (about 3/8"). It is really good to attach to a knife for use as a pull. I'm buying a few more here pretty soon.

This link gives a pretty good history and background of the tool.
