Day 27: opened some stuff.

The Chevy is an old dealer promo that for a long time was very hard to find. They were made by a company called Authentic Scale Models out of Brooklyn who seems to have produced only the Chevy C-Series, as a dealer promo sometime prior to 1968 (thus, 1967?). A seller in CT recently listed several on the big auction site, and apparently his brother has been sitting on a large amount of them for years. I suspect that perhaps when GM noticed the poor quality, they canceled the contract with most of the models produced; and what this individual had was the entire leftover stock.

The Matchbox is a special run a member of the Wilton, CT Fire Department did for the department and another forum I am on. It was done by Color Comp. Matchbox used to have a close relationship with ColorComp and produced blank (usually white) models for their use, but this ended in the 2000s, and the blanks ran out by 2013-2014. Thus, the individual that had this run done had to source what Hazard Squad models he could find, remove the printing, and then send them off to ColorComp to be printed.

The gray truck is a Winross, a 1960 Autocar I believe. I already own two Winross, Ford L-Series for Dr. Pepper, and a Ford commemorative series. Too big with their trailers, so I put them away. The seller had several cab-only trucks, and I bid on most, mainly for a Ford L-Series that had an opening hood. Lost on all but this one.

It comes with its own sheath Steve, can be belt carried vertically or horizontally

For 9 weeks, so since well before the challenge, I’ve been in lockdown.
Apart from a weekly trip to Coles (supermarket) I’ve only left the house to walk Coco, so haven’t actually carried it all :ahhh

That Chevy utility truck reminds me of the old "Emergency" TV series.

Day 27

Mowed the yard today. Chose the lawn mower over the serrated scissors.

Though I did test them and, yes, they cut grass blades easily. Maybe there's some logic to what these scissors will cut, but I haven't figured it out.

I never did associate the Hammerhead with apocalypse prepping, but now that you mentioned it, it might just as well be the most popular MT on TWD. >:D

Btw, which season are you watching in right now?  I binge watched it a year ago up until Season 7 or 8(IIRC) and need a break from it.  One TWD line that pop into my head, as this challenge is coming to a close soon, is "Dolor hic tibi proderit olim"  (rough translation: “This pain will be useful to you someday.”)

Not sure how well the Hammerhead would do with walkers but better than some of the things they use, would feel a lot happier with my kukri!

I’m half way through season 5, really liking it. When it came out I watched season 1 and then didn’t have any way of watching the next seasons for a while. Started on season 2 and was a little disappointed after s1, but it all kicked back into gear with season 3 and seems to get better each season.
They’ve just released s11, so will see how I go

On another TV note, new season of Forged in Fire just started here, but with a new presenter. Don’t know why you’d change a winning formula, Will was good, new guy doesn’t seem to add anything I can see :dunno:

I sort of quit watching the show after Wil was replaced, but that is less about the new host and more about my fascination with the show has run its course. My wife never understood why I liked it so much

I am not going to give away anything, but I assure you it will be a roller coaster ride up ahead.  Avoid watching any youtube regarding TWD at all cost, they are full of spoliers.

I only watched Forged in Fire on and off, but I do prefer the Knife or Death a little more.  Many of the participants are either knife enthusiast or practice some form of martial art, and the whole format is similar to the real blade sport so that's exciting to watch.

More opening of dog food today…as I’ve said before, if there’s one thing this challenge has taught me is I use a knife every day, other tools much less…but still feel happier having them nearby

Have enjoyed the Hammerhead, fine around home which having been in lockdown now for 9 weeks is the only place I’ve been, but couldn’t see me edc’ing it
