DAY 1: And I'm off on a horse with no name!     Swiss+Tech 13 in 1 multitool.  I plan to use everything but the glass breaker.

Day 1

This Wetols I got from Amazon cost me $22, and considering the lower cost, it is actually relatively well made.  But it is a real pant dragger(which I really do hate), and I sworn I need to hold onto my pants whenever I need to take a leak.  Crazy heavy, a whopping 336g (11.8oz), it looks beefy right next to a Spirit X.
That's a good sized tool you have there Comis  (I'll just leave that one hanging... )

I am marinating a couple of pork tenderloins this morning and decided to use a non-alcoholic Heiniken as the liquid. I pulled out the TripSaver to open the bottle and then remembered that for the TripSaver the can/bottle opener is replaced by an awl. No problem.

I grabbed the bottle with my left hand by the neck. I stuck the plier head tips under the bottle cap and, using my left index finger as a fulcrum, pried the bottle cap off. A trick that I am sure many if not all of you know. I had no worries about the plier tips. The plier head is quite robustly built.

Day 01
The Gerber MP-600. I've never liked it because the tools are short for a full size tool and it is uncomfortable for me to carry it.  Here the sliding pliers are seen withdrawn and deployed.
I fully agree with this point of view (same issue for me with the OHT)

I have a work issued MP600 but was lucky enough to be part of a trial for the OG Surge & never looked back  :D

Best of luck  :tu:

what can i say  :D
I'm in the same position as you mate (using a LM OHT)
The general consensus is that it's a jolly, damned fine, splendid tool  :twak:

Fact is, it's NEVER worked well for me. I hope to be won over  :dunno:

So as long the mods does not alter the original too much, I think it is acceptable.  But I would suggest to refrain from doing further mods to the tool until the end of the challenge.
Fair enough, comis.

The length of the list of potential mods at the end of 30 days will be a good indication of my acceptance of the S557.   ;)

So my first offering for the Daredevil challenge is, quite frankly, not very daring  ::)

However, for me it's a rare useage shot   Changing the bulb in the O/S light (the OHT helped  ;) )

Just barely long enough to get in there and too short for complete rotation.  Will an extension driver fit the OHT?

Day 1 of 30

Well, I have never been a fan of the Gerber Suspension  ::) so when the NXT came out it looked better so I bought one of them :D It has a combo blade and I also dislike those  I am glad this started on a Sunday so I can get use to it a bit more before an actual work day :ahhh I do really like the clip on it anyways

Let the month of hopefully not misery begin :woohoo:

Some great and perhaps understandable choices here. The OHT just looks too bulky. I'd rather stick with the Rebar, which is tiny. The Suspension NXT had me interested when it came out, along with the Truss. I still think about getting one or the other, or both. I still might. They do seem fine. We'll see.

I don't have an official LM extension driver, yet (just a generic one that came with my other potential candidate)

That one however, does fit over the awl (just) but is a bit rattly  ::)

I'll try to continue without resorting to other attachments and just go "commando" where possible

The OHT is VERY bulky and as I don't use my Rebar a great deal maybe I should have chosen that

I don't think I could bring myself to buy a "Truss" (non medical usage aside  :ahhh )

The Rebar would have been less of a challenge  ;)

Day 1 - And so it begins...

An easy start for the S557 on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

All it had to do was cut open the foil cap on a bottle of windshield washer fluid, as seen here in this dramatic recreation after I got my phone.

I was thinking about backing out of this challenge due to there being too many awesome tools and too little time to spend a month using something I don’t like.

But then I decide to stick with it.  I had three candidates -
- Victorinox Evo S18 - As much as I love SAKs of all sizes, I can’t stand the ergonomic grips on the Evo line.  I also find the locking mechanism uncomfortable and awkward.
- Leatherman Squirt PS4 - I really wanted to like this little tool and would if I didn’t find the two drivers nearly impossible to open.  The nail nicks seem to be so shallow, small and close to the scales that I find they do not work.
- Kutmaster Minimaster - I do not like having to open it to access any tool.  I also do not like that with just about any tool you try to open, all the tools want to come open.  Also, I’m not sure why but I just feel the quality may be a little suspect, which irritates me due to how much I like my old Utica knives.

After some deliberation, I’ve decided on the Minimaster.  I feel that maybe I haven’t given the Minimaster a fair chance compared to other tools by bigger names.
(Image removed from quote.)

I am glad you decided to stay in this. :like:
I have one of those tiny tools. The scissors were very loose on mine, so I gently bashed the pivot with a hammer, to get the scissors to be able to cut. But the tool is still below average. The two handles have no retention when closed. And when you open a tool, and close the handles, the tool is supposed to be somewhat locked. Nope. Not on mine. The implements can move about 45°. Pretty bad. I keep it in a sewing kit.

I do notice that after messing with the tools of the NXT and unlocking them a few times that the slide bar for the lock could potentially be a hot spot though :ahhh If it is hot out and my hands are sweaty then I forsee this as a possible problem for me   Of course it has to be hot and it isn't like we are right in the middle of Summer here in the Southern US ::) Oh wait

Put the Minimaster to use to cut some paracord doing a mod on my dog’s harness.  Also used the scissors to cut open a popsicle.

These are a couple of my gripes about the Minimaster and why I don’t like it.

Day 1: Well, this is embarrassing; I misplaced the Tough Tool between the time I bought it, and the time for this challenge. Thus, I'l be using the Swiza D04; another tool I never really understood.  Swizas never meshed with me at all.

But, at least the stuff on this tool works and won't break when I look at it funny.

Day 2

If I had a hammer

I normally carry a PBMT and/or SAK so good opportunity to test the “Jeremy Clarkson MT for all occasions“, the hammer

Fence needed a fix, it actually worked pretty well but I did miss the length and weight of a proper hammer, took multiple blows to get the job done, but done it is

So far then, does what it’s supposed to
