Hi people  :waving:

I arrived back from sunny  :dunno:  Wales today. I have been absent for a few days whilst I dealt with a family bereavement.

It wasn't unexpected but still not good news losing a parent just before Christmas, and the COVID stuff doesn't help with arrangements.

Thank you "awl" for your messages of support and condolences (too many to mention) This is the reason why this site is better than all the others (it's the generosity of "spirit" of "awl" of you)  :tu:

It didn't feel right to take shots in the circumstances so I will continue to post pics of an appropriate SAK (only got two 111's  ::) ) starting again tomorrow (13th) and then run over for the days I've missed, if that's okay with you  :dunno:

Once again; thank you "awl"  :salute:
Surge, terribly sorry to read this, my sincere condolences to you and family!

I'm saddened to read this as I know the feeling.  As I was grieving my father, a dear friend told me, "You haven't lost him, he's only gone before."  That comforted me.
May your memories of your parent be a blessing.
FB, this bit is definitely true.  By cherishing those memories and passing them on, I felt those whom have gone before me have never gone too far.

Gonna have to try that lanyard tip myself. Looks to be a whistle. I've been attaching Acme 636 to the lanyard ring, but that's horribly bulky.
I probably can't compare this little lanyard whistle to those real survival whistles like storm, but they are definitely better than nothing.  I usually rotate this lanyard onto whatever outdoor knife I carry, so I always have it with me.

Day 12:
A bit of an early winter storm has been on top of us since last night. Yesterday’s snow has been topped with another 15 cm. This time with heavy south-east wind. The house faces east with a clear fields of some 1500 meters in front. This means that snow will drift on to the road and front yard. Currently up to 60 - 70 cm drifts at its best.
So, time for a fire and a good book, maybe even a glass of malt:

Condolences Surge  :salute:

DAY 12

I decided to use my Bosch Outrider today.

I like the Zermatt leather sheaths Victorinox makes but the
belt loop makes them ride too high on my belt, so I took the
belt loop off of the black sheath and drilled 4 small holes
and then slit the leather between 2 on each side for my belt
to go through. Now it rides a lot lower on my belt

Part of the reason i don't belt carry is they mostly sit too high, good fix  :tu:

Day 12

Back to the Outrider with my favorite glow bead lanyard:
(Image removed from quote.)

Nice lanyard, i like that  :tu:

111mm Day 12:

Busy day for the Hercules: trimmed tape while repairing an electrical cord, snipped some threads with the scissors, broke down boxes to go to the recycle station, and....yes...opened a bit more wine.

I was lazy with the photos and only snapped this one at the recycle center:

Used the can opener to help breakdown boxes. Worked well, but I prefer an in-line awl.  :tu:

I'm really enjoying carrying the Hercules this month. It has proven to be very useful and less difficult to carry than I had feared.   :tu:
