Day 17
Going to carry the Outrider again.
Here's a 111mm I got not too long ago called a Side Chef.
Has a one hand opening, locking, serrated blade.
Tweezers, key ring, toothpick and clip.  Package has copyright of 2011.

Cool find FB! :like: :tu: :tu:

Thanks (Image removed from quote.)

This is my 1000s post btw (Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)
Congrats on the 1000th!  Please join us in NLC and don't forget to say hello!

Thanks comis :tu: and thanks for the pics and info, very helpful, please feel free to add them to the comparison post, the more on there the merrier :tu:

Think I’ll stick with the 91mm Ranger for now although the locksmith definitely looks interesting with similar size and weight to the outrider  which is about as large as I want to carry.

At home I’ve plenty of full size files and tools so would use them

Case in point, been pruning some trees today, would’ve been a darn sight easier with the Bahco Laplander than the Outrider…however where’s the SAK fun in that!

We breed our dogs tough and our dog food bags tougher still round here ;)

Let me get some better pictures, and put up a few for the reference.

It's interesting to see the different philosophy between different brands or tools, for SAK, I have always believe it is meant to only solve 80% of all my daily tool needs.  Though it is really convenient, it is never meant to replace the larger size tool for efficiency and ease of use.

I'm sad to say that I'm going to have to bow out of this one.  I've been missing days which I don't normally do, there's just a bit much going on here at the moment.  Challenges are supposed to be fun, and every one I've been in so far has been great.  This one has been too, I've really been enjoying it.  Just a bit too much stress right now.  Hopefully things will calm down soon.  I'll keep checking in as time permits.  Here's to the second half!
Sorry to see you go, but life happens.  Hope your mom will fully recover soon, and come back whenever you have time!

Great pics and uses everyone.

Day 17
This is a little early for me, but it is the 17th and I did use the Outrider, so here is a pic of the Outrider helping open some chocolate received on Christmas.

These looks pretty unique, chocolate shots! :D

DAY 17

I was using the OHT to help free a cheapo pair of scissors from their clamshell coffin.

Mrs Surge can't find the Fiskars so they are now "officially MIA:pok:

I started out using the awl but, then discovered that it failed to cut through the corner of the package without hyper extending. I finished off using the blade (which dealt with it..well; like a knife through clamshell packaging  )

Is there a 111/130mm SAK out there that has a proper in-line awl  :dunno: or do I just need a 111mm FX (OHO, of course)  :D

Also a bonus shot of the RescueTool resplendent in it's glow-i-ness on the stairs (iphone night mode  )

Thanks for your kind words, guys

Day 17

No uses today - it’s -20 degrees outside, we’re on a lockdown, so nothing much to do - just a beauty pic

Dream. Wish. Leave nothing undone. Repeat.

Day 17

(Image removed from quote.)

Trekker attended dinner duty.  One thing I like most about using Vic blade for food chore, besides it is really stainless, is the fact that I could bring it back to full sharpness quickly and painlessly.  I know some enthusiasts may worry about using their knives on ceramic plate since it will dull the blade real good, but that's never a problem for the Vic steel.

Good use, Comis. This looks very tasty

Day 17

Finally used the main blade. Opened some grated cheese.

It's surprising how little one actually uses the large blade in city life, isn't it? That's one of the reasons why the GAK just didn't work for me in last year's challenge - I didn't need the large blade and the saw, but the GAK didn't provide much more than that.

Day 18

Outrider opened delivery from the postie - new Spirit XC :like:

I’m supposed to be cutting down on my SAK and MT purchases (yeah, yeah, you’ve heard it before I know) but this was A$100 as opposed to A$155 on Amazon the cheapest I’ve seen it so couldn’t resist

Doesn’t explain the red OC Pioneer I won on eBay yesterday
