To honour discontinued SAKs and ease the pain after discovering a certain thread on this forum, I have decided to open a beer with the Tradesman  :salute:

I'd been munching on nuts for snacks for the past month, and today I had an interesting one.  Chilled cooked abalone with wasabi soy sauce or hot salsa.  Outrider was useful in deshelling the seafood and slicing them into strips for snack.

That looks delicious, Comis!  :tu:

Great photos everyone, but this one here ulzhan, brings back fond memories of Futurama.  I miss that show.

I miss it too, Lisa.

**Edit: just found out it's on CBS All access...thankfully I have that and didn't cancel it.  :tu:

I haven’t been on hear nearly as much as usually, so was spending some time going back through.  Their are definitely some great pictures, uses, and complementary items in this thread.  Matchbox, fountain pens, beer, food and some cold white stuff.

Soldier helped with opening some sausage for dinner.  It is chicken apple sausage.  A strange combination, but I’ve been having apple cravings lately, so my wife decided to try something new.

Just like ElevenBlade, I did some food prep tonight -  a pan of roasted potatoes and onions, to go with some grilled cheeseburgers.

Day 28

No uses so far so a picture of my quintet

The Outrider has been used the most, a truly great SAK that will be seeing a lot more use in future, with the Adventurer next being such good pocket carry.

Thought I’d use The Rucksack more than I have but because I like to pocket carry that extra saw layer, as slim as it is, has definitely lost out to the adventurer. Otherwise I figure may as well go all out so stick the Outrider in my bag and away I go.

I really like the opinels too EB, got a 6, a 7 and an 8 outdoor all in SS and a 9 in carbone.
Will probably get a standard 8 in carbone too, although the different woods look nice, then only available in SS and I like the patina the carbone’s get

We may need a show us your SAK and Opinel thread

Day 28. No use that I can recall.  I almost forgot, so here's a photo with my razor. I recently switched to the Harry's brand; as me and safety razors didn't work out (Merkur 23C and Feather blades; which I still use when I forget to order modern razors) as I was really prone to nicking myself with them, and Gillette just keeps getting more and more expensive. And the cheap cartridge razors the local stores around here sell are really bad. I tried the Food Lion brand for about a week, and they were awful.

I use Harry's too and really like them.
The blades are long lasting and sharp, plus I've been able to buy refills at a fraction of the cost of the other brands.

111mm Day 27:

Chicken night!   :tu:

This bird got spatchcocked (backbone, wishbones, pelvic bones, and ribs removed) in preparation for the oven. Lays nice and flat in the oven and cooks evenly. My favorite way to prep a bird.

The big 111mm blade had no trouble with this task. The tip is pointy enough to get into joints and work around bones, the blade is strong enough to cut through some ribs.

Mrs Nix suggested Cranberry sauce to go with the chicken. No problem.

But the Cranberry sauce didn't want to come out of the can. Sure, Nature abhors a vacuum.....but she loves an awl.....

The chicken came out great, but the Hercules was the star of the show.

I hear your  It's a real shame Vic doesn't give us pens in the 111 mms, especially with the Garant demonstrating they can do it. I hope they will eventually offer plus scales on the aftermarket, as they do with the 91 mm models. It's a wasted opportunity to make easy money imo.
