And Ebay does have a bit of "buyer beware".

If the listing is from an ebay "store" and looks professional and they have a TON of positive feedback, I woulden't hesitate to buy from them.I do recall seeing a Powerassist at a Bass Pro Shops so if you have one near you it's worth a look...and the standard Powerlock can be found at Lowes like LM123 said..
But I've been thinking about getting a powerlock/power-assist. What has prevented me has been the cost, especially from local non-internet sources(Leatherman prices has spoiled me). And with the employee"abuse" accusation against Amazon. I'm leary of giving them my money until that controversy has been remedied. And Ebay does have a bit of "buyer beware".Who can I turn to??
...I agree with the comments about ebay too, feedback is everything. If you're buying new, from a seller with loads of feedback, you'll be very unlucky to end up with a bad deal. Pay with paypal, and you'll get your money back should anything go wrong.
