So sad to hear...

Guess doing his voice on random moments just to baffle my kids (and friends, and colleagues, and...) will stop now for a while...

I have nothing but the deepest respect for Sir Connery, best Bond ever, and the father of Indiana Jones (and so much more great roles...).

R.I.P.

A Sean Connery film this evening sound like a great idea.

Connery had some eclectic views on women, like how it was a great idea to hit them when they wouldn't stop yammering.  But he suggested only hitting them with an open hand - not a fist as you would a man. He kept these views for some 40+ years, repudiating them only in the early 2000's.  This is not mere rumor, as he memorialized these views in a 1965 Playboy interview and reaffirmed them years later.  One of his wives said he beat her, which he denied.

And by eclectic, I mean totally beyond the pale.  But, alas, things were different then.  And in memoriam, we tend to remember only the good and gloss over the not so good.

Wasn't aware of this, and even though things might have been different, some things are not done...

Totally agree with your statement, but that's speaking of the man beyond the actor.... My admiration goes to him as an actor, for his talent, his craft and his roles.
Whatever where is views or beliefs as a man/person doesn't diminish in any way (in my view) my admiration and respect for him as an actor and professional, for all his work over the years.

Same principle applies to all my "heroes"  ;)

Being Halloween, we’re closing all the window shades and ordering some pizza and wings, with a few other things and watching “The Shining” plus celebrating since the kid just grad high school at the age of 16,
But tonight in remembering Connery, the Mrs won’t watch any James Bond, but also being Halloween were also going to watch “The League of Extraordinary Gentleman” the Mrs found it on tv and knew it would make my day!

There's no point taking a moral position on it at this point - for all we know, he was simply before his time - the things you can get in trouble for in causing offense these days, before we know it, "yammering" will be an act of aggression and you'll be facing fines or gaol time for the crime....

Condemning a dead man for a fifty year old interview also may not be the moral high ground you think it is...

All in all, he had a good run - we don't all make ninety years above ground, and his contributions to the arts had some influence on my life, and I imagine many others' - which is something few of us here can boast.

I'm not much for reading the celebrity news, but I hope his passing was peaceful enough, and I have no doubt he had all the creature comforts money can buy. One can only hope that the media and general public leave his family to the business of getting on with things.
