Day 7
Stormtrooper standing guard.

Don't think the Stormtrooper would last long if the Giant decided to pick a fight...

This was definitely a learning process

So the first picture shows the large blade out without having to lift the bit driver, the reason this doesn’t work for me is because if I leave the large blade down the cable doesn’t sit flush on the layers of the tool and with it open is obviously a cutting/stabbing risk

The second picture shows how it works best for me I lift the magnifier out, then place the cable and partially close the blade on the cable then close the bit driver on the cable to hold it in place

Once it is in place the third picture shows how it works me to hold it I place it in my hand like that and rotate the bottom of the tool away from me holding the other end of the wire with my right hand (the pic is after I stripped it but wanted to show that part of the process)

In a pinch it does work well without causing damage to the inner cables but obviously if I was doing this regularly I would want the appropriate tools but as always the XLT comes through!

Comis, hopefully I made some sense with some of this

Cool, many thanks for the illustration :tu:

Day 8

(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)

Little guy got this talking pictionary poster thingie, and demanded me to stick it on the wall for him ASAP.  So out come the Giant, found the Minathor Watchmaker tool set for the tiny philips and put in the battery, then used the scissors to cut some 3M double sided tape to put it up.

Btw, I never quite understanding why the Wenger Minathor demands such high pricing on the evil bay...come to think about it, it almost half the price of a Wenger Giant(at least way back when I got it).  Does anyone know the story behind it?  Was it just due to very limited quantity made?

I stand by my opinion that the detachable tools defy the Giant's purpose. Looks as if you could loose half of the knife if you weren't careful when EDCing it

Stormtrooper gave it a good go, but alas couldn't stand up to the mass that is the Giant.

Not fully, but some of the tools from the Wenger lineup is indeed detachable from the chassis, which I think it's kinda clever and make quite a bit of sense.

Seeing the Stormtrooper struggling with the Giant does remind me one of the hazard of using Giant is not to drop it...otherwise there will be consequences. :o

Day 9

I was cleaning some jigged bone handle for a traditional knife, and due to the jigging pattern, there are some really sharp parts poking out from the chassis and a huge axx splinter stab my thumb pretty good.  So I tried to pull out the tweezer from the Giant and use it to pull out the splinter...but sadly it was semi-'glued' in.   I suspect someone didn't wait until the glue to cure when putting on the scale, and put the tweezer right onto the chassis.  In the end, I have to rely on the XLT giant tweezer(pliers) to help pull out the tweezer from the Giant body.

Luckily, I was able to use the assortment of pliers, tweezers, duct tape and needle in the end to retrieve the splinter in the thumb. :tu:

Nope. The spatula is used for stirring after I add some sugar to the coke.

It's always a rule of thumb
That when you hurt your thumb
You need your thumb
To open the bandaid
And apply the bandaid
And get out the tweezers
An that none of those things
Go as easily as they would
If you had your thumb
Fully functional
And tried to do it all
One-handed
Just for the Smurf of it.
This life is merely a staging ground for eternity. Are you preparing for the rest of forever?

Does your Giant have the Evo scales?
On mine (and I see on comis' too) there is one side with an Evo scale and the other side is a flat scale.

You are lucky!

Thanks Lisa.  I thought I saw the Evo scales on yours.  I didn't notice on Comis's knife.  That's another great idea on Wenger's part.
