Where is the SAK corkscrew made?
on: November 26, 2020, 12:41:13 PM
Hi Knights,

The Wiki says that the SAK corkscrew is made in France - I certainly thought that to be the case - Not sure if I only read it there

Does anyone know where in France and who makes it?
I found an old post from enki that says it is made in Trier, France - But it looks like Trier is in Germany (close to France, maybe once upon a time even in France) - But deffo Germany now!

Aha - I think there is a typo - Location will be Thiers - The knife capital of France
Maybe Lagouile?

Thanks guys

I had no idea they weren’t made by Victorinox! Here’s a pic of my Thiers made corkscrew, a handmade item, so less than perfect, but that’s it charm! Usually lives in my wine cupboard with its Campagnolo big brother who is saved for expensive wines with old corks....

I've always thought they were made in Germany. But I don't have a reliable source for that!
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

In my experience the origin of the wine has a greater influence on the overall drinking experience than the origin of the corkscrew  :drink:
OK, I'm out :pommel:

The Wiki says that the SAK corkscrew is made in France
The corresponding statement in the Wiki seems to be based on information that was discussed in the following MTO thread:
