Having a Blast revitilizing a Blast!

I got this 1106 LM Blast from the bay of E for a song :cheers:



but it had a few problems :whistle: :facepalm: :oops:



I knew this when I bought it ;) :D I decided to clean it up and fix it up after going through my spare parts bin :tu:

I will have to replace the knife blade (a Harley Davidson branded SOG PE blade) , the big flat driver (donor is from a Wave but the Blast had the exact driver) and the saw (the saw wasn't horrible but I had a spare Blast saw) ;)



I even figured I would add a PST II diamond file to it :o :D

First step is to take apart and clean :ahhh



Ah much better :dd:



Next I need to adjust a couple of the new parts. Mostly the SOG knife blade but I did have to grind down the lock notch of the file to match for a good lock up as well :cheers: I used a Sharpie to give me and idea of where to cut and then I took my Dremel and cut a little at a time, checking as I went :salute:





There we go :cheers:



Now to get it back together :cheers: First side was the side with the file and the next was the side with the knife blade, the big flat driver and the saw :tu:





I used another Blast to get this one back together in the correct order and that helped quite a bit because I forgot to take pics of the tools in order :facepalm: :rofl:

Now we are back in business :like:

A great project for sure and I was happy to give this old tool a new lease on life :tu: I am going to have this as a user and it may end up in a vehicle or in a tool kit :think: Either way I hope you guys enjoy my little project :cheers:

Next, I may take apart a Sidekick and Wingman to get the best parts of each into one :think: :cheers:

Still a bit of clean up sanding on a couple tools and I will file the small flat driver down to a more usable end but as it is, I am sure it can accomplish quite a bit :tu:

Thanks Sos :hatsoff: The Blast is a very good tool to mod, as is the whole Zytel series ( except the Core as it is a bit of an oddball :whistle: :D )

The Blast was also the first LM that I bought for myself to replace my PST, so it does have some sentimental value as well :cheers: The other Blast in the pic was that very first Blast as well :tu:

I bought myself a Blast earlier this year, and to be honest, I only bought it because I considered it "the missing link" in my Supertool collection.

I was surprised by how comfortable it was in hand, still, I'm going to keep it NIB in the collection, since NIB Blasts are pretty rare around here.

But I have considered the Core more the missing link of the Supertool series vs the Blast but the Rebar could be more the predecessor to the Blast and since the Rebar is a small ST then the link is easier to see between them :tu:
