Day 11

Used the s52 pliers to snug down a length gauge into case trimmer. I've been impressed with the s52 so far. The pliers are very handy and seem to be high quality.
It seems that this knife has more snap/spring tension than my handyman or commander. That could be a Vic vs Wenger thing or just that they are well used.

Wenger PocketGrip/MiniGrip.  What strikes me interesting is in Vic camp, IIRC, all the pliers fit into their chassis regardless of their sizes.  But for Wenger, some do and some don't.  I kinda wonder are these oversized pliers answer to the rise of Leatherman tools back in the 70s/80s.

DAY 10:

A couple of mint Fire Highlanders.  Nothing prettier than a Wenger with translucent red scales.
The bottom one is NIB and still has the protective plastic film over the scales.
I do like these translucent scales, kind of highlight the different method of how the knife is put together(vs Vic)

I have one of these, and if I recall, isn't wood pulp in the scales?
Very likely.  I haven't found any reliable resources on exactly what's in the scales, except 'recyclable matieral'.  But I did see 'wood pulp' mentioned in a few youtube vidoes, but don't know where they get that from  Do you happen to have any reliable resource that points to 'wood pulp'? :dunno:

Day 10 of 30

This morning we went to shooting range to do some SRA-Shooting and regular target shooting and used flathead on to adjust sights.
It was really rough and long weekend but im finally home after driving 4,5 hours back home.

(Image removed from quote.)

Only Tools Matters
Rest easy!  Must be tiring to drive 4-5 hours after a long day.

10/30

Today was a good SAK day.

Clam juice was an ingredient for dinner,,, shrimp-n-grits.
Nice!

Day 11
October 11

First time since this SAK came into my possession (last 2016) that the can opener will be put to use. Yeah, it’s sharp and cuts thru the tin smoothly and effortlessly.

Normally a Vic Waiter is assigned to the kitchen for such jobs.

In some way, I could totally see how this is more intuitive to use as a can opener than the Vic version.  Till this day, I still 100% certain whether it is faster to use Vic can opener clockwise/counter-clockwise...

Day 8: my BY SAK, a '67 Soldat :salute:

For whatever reason, they're a hard year to find.  Folder Beholder found that one for me after a long time of searching.

DAY 11:

What's that out on the green?  The Wenger Golf Pro, with it's 3 unique dedicated golfing tools:
Divot tool, spike wrench and club scraper or tee punch (I've seen both explanations).

DAY 11: Chicken enchilada soup requires lots of can opening, so why not have a contest?  Old school Adirondack vs. Vic-style RangerGrip 78.

This can was the only one that the Adirondak could grip well.  It worked exactly like you would expect an old can opener to work.

Now the new style.  Bus first expresses his lack of confidence in my ability to do this Immler style.  It turns out that he's a very perceptive dog, and my Immler technique sucks.  It did, however, open the can.

Well, '66 is my birth year, but I've decided it isn't reasonable to pay as much as they seem to be going for for something I'll rarely ever use.  One day I may buy one if I can find one as cheap as any other used SAK.  I'm not actively looking for it and that seems to be the key to finding most collectibles (and lost items).  Stop looking for it and one day it will just show up. :D

According to what I understand that's exactly why.  I've even heard that Wenger made almost all of the '67 batch.

Well, '66 is my birth year.

Many people think....and I won't argue the point...that in terms of human vintages...'66 was the best year. Ever.

Let's not quibble about that.

The SAKs and the Glock go really well together. I like!

Glamour shot with a carving that belonged to my father.
Cool carving! Wish I had that talent.

As regards the birth year SAKs, I now have to wonder how easy it'll be to find mine (1978). Last I checked, one dealer I've bought from previously had a couple, priced North of $100...anyway, the show must go on.

Day 11

Today the Evo 23 helped get dinner ready. I also had a good chance and reason to put the wood saw through its paces. It performed very well, but my photo isn't the greatest, so I may have to try it again.

Today used my Evolution S17 to file my nails.
The nail file is the only tool I did not care for on the knife, and seemed out of place on an outdoors centric survival knife.
However, it's one of the tools I use quite often.  Being around SAKs, it's become apparent to me, having healthy and properly trimmed nails is important to access those tools.
So I use the nail file often to smooth and round those nails to operate those nail nicks.

Day 11:

The last couple of days has been pretty productive in terms of the diecast hobby. After hearing rumors that the Mattel factories in Malaysia and maybe Thailand also were shut down, I started to freak out. I was, however, quite surprised to find some rather fresh MBX at Dollar General yesterday; as they had put out a shipper as a part of their Christmas display (which was surprisingly barren; and had used a lot of items leftover from previous Christmas setups).  Had a dental appointment today (thanks to me crunching hard candies and eating M&Ms that had been stored in the refirgerator I just kissed $250 goodbye; which was more than $100 less than I expected, which was good) and had to get some things on the way back; and found HW's take on the Corvette C8R; the latest take on the racing spec 'Vette. My DG had stocked the case including it back in July, but at the time that case was stocked, I had less than $10 left in my pocket, and was only able to purchase a small selective group.
