Dual Pro Owner's Club!
on: December 12, 2020, 09:59:15 PM
I looked through the list of SAK clubs, and noticed we didn't have a Dual Pro club.  It doesn't seem to be a terribly popular model....

Any thing that is related to the Dual Pro is welcome. Dual Pro, Dutch Army Knife Model 2010, Hunter XT, and that weird "Parachute Knife" that has just belt cutter and Phillips; and relatives of those patterns.

I really like the Dual Pro. I chose one to replace my Fireman, as the prices of Rescue Tools put them way out of my league, and for daily use I did not need a laminated glass cutter and a window breaker. Plus, the main cutting blades can be opened easily with the right hand. I normally use my GAK and Soldier left-handed (since I am a southpaw), but you can't open the belt-cutter that way. Feels weird with the reversed linerlock when it is used right-handed.

I have the Dual Pro X. I think I see why Victorinox discontinued these. I paid $15 shipped for this example; used but in like new condition aside from a bent liner which I fixed. I was the only person who bid; and the seller had a lot of old "parts knives" that I'd also bid on; and there was close to 20 bids on that lot.   I don't think they're that desirable, but practical. The "X" model in this case means a PE spear-point blade, as opposed to a serrated pointed blade. I like knives with PE and SE blades both on board, and it fit the bill. It was hard to choose between this and the Hunter XT. I could buy a Hunter XT locally. It may have had a saw, a handy tool,  but it had no drivers aside from the backside Phillips. And, no awl. Dual Pro has the locking caplifter/big SD, can opener/small SD AND the awl.   I wish Vic would make a Hunter XT+ and give us a four layer version with both woodsaw and drivers, but I'm sure that won't happen. Probably would cut deep in to Rescue Tool sales.

Here's my Dual Pro -
Oh wait, I sold it! I had the Serrated-Blade-Overload edition and I just never used it. I called mine the Psycho Spartan, cos it's basically a big Spartan where the small blade has mutated into a vicious gutting tool. It is the coolest looking 111mm SAK, but the least useful in real life! Your version with the non-serrated main blade is far better and more likely to get used. So I'm jealous.
But you got no corkscrew which is a disaster.

Here is a Dual Pro with 2 Hunter XT's with Phillips screwdriver. I actually have another red Dual Pro. I liked the first one so much I bought a spare.

I wish I got a Dual Pro X, instead of the Standard Issue. I hate the half serrated blade, and especially front serrated.
