Bayonet for FN FAL
on: December 23, 2020, 10:21:34 PM
I wonder if anyone can help. I working on a model of a Irish infantryman attached to the UN peacekeeping force in the Congo in the early 60s. I'm struggling to find a reference to the bayonet for the FN FAL the Irish troops were issued with. Does anyone have any information or photos?

Don't know which type the Irish used, but as far as I know there are 3 types of bajonets for the FN Fal.

Click here to go to the Dutch wiki about the FN Fal.

The link should go straight to the part about the bajonets, maybe Google Translate can help you out for the text, and if something isn't translated correctly, or doesn't seem right, feel free to contact me and I'll try to translate or explain for you (not that I have much technical knowledge of bajonets, but one can only try, right?).

Post a pic when you're finished with your model!  I love the FAL.  I sincerely wish my country had adopted it when it had the chance.

Hi John,

Given the type C bayonet was pretty much standard from 1962 that would be my educated guess.  :tu:
