I did some research last night and found out the USB flash board inside actually is in an industrial standard size.

You can buy either USB 2.0 or USB3.0 memory and replace it without any damage or modification. Just use your fingernail to take off the metal shell, you can easily change without any tools.

So, before I order my new memory, I checked some of my USB drives, I have two 64GB USB 2.0. Its size is exactlly the same. Another 128GB USB3.0 is in the short form. So I made a spacer to occupay the space.

Looks closer, Victorinox version has a LED light within the board, but others do not have LED. The two pins at the end of  board is for LED light. My USB3.0 has a LED light at there, so I have to cut it down a little bit to put in.

Yup, did the same with the older, "fatter" version. This is a good option. Buy the lowest memory version, buy an ordinary high capacity USB and switch them. It'll save you enough to buy another SAK.

I think older one is no as easy as this. I saw some people projects, it is not that perfect anyway.

Literally, I did not use any tool and I did not modify anything. just simply put it in.
Now I don't have to worry about it, because I already have 2 spare drives.

Does anyone know if you could shape another tool similarly to this - referring to the pivot connection - and make it removable on, say, a regular 58 or 91mm knife?  I'm thinking of a knife sharpener in particular.

Also, how thick is this tool at its widest?

Thanks,
David
