I think this thread is due for a :bump:

This one has seen some carry and use since I moved out of Detroit. It was gifted to me by Barry Rowland. :hatsoff:

With the addition of a lanyard, you might say the U.S. Combat Knife is officially a carrier!

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

And that has majorly shaken things up in my little corner of the SAK universe. Not only does a 111mm feel very good in the hand, they also carry fantastically. With the "fifth pocket" of my Carhartts being very deep, even a 93mm can get swallowed up in it. A 111mm has enough bulk to fill that pocket well, but its weight won't cause my pants to list to one side. And they make for a good belt carry if I'm forced to wear pants that lack the amazing "fifth pocket." I do have to leave the 111mm at home on those occasions I have to visit Detroit. If such a trip is not on the agenda, I'm Team 111mm all the way now. A 58mm might be added if I feel the need. Since I have a plethora of SAKs in other sizes, I think it's likely that most of my future SAK purchases will be 111mm or larger.

Dan, I've been thinking about doing just that for years.  We have had some 111 challenges in the past.  After I picked up a Work Champ 5 years ago, it became even more enticing.  They're tough, extremely comfortable EDC knives.

This is a RAF Hunter that I got from Fast Bill a long time ago now.  It was issue in the bail out kits for the pilots for awhile.  It's my only side lock presently.

That is one very sweet SAK! :like: I had the pleasure of briefly being the caretaker of a slide-lock Fireman on its journey across the Atlantic. It now resides with an MTo member in Europe.

Fantastic photos from Antti and Barry, and happy 111 Wednesday to awl!

Here are some photos from Sunday. I endeavor to use a can opener whenever possible, even if that means opening the can from the bottom.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The 111mm can opener works well, and the soup was good (especially after adding chipotle powder)...just as expeted.

The U.S. Combat Knife is at it again! Its serrated blade did a great job on paracord, but chewed up the expired bus transfer pretty good.

It's not Wednesday and I didn't carry 111mm today but the latest addition to the fleet is this Trailmaster in Camo. For all of my down vibes on Camo* I think I could grow to like it.

* Who needs camo ??? The toolset is shiny  ... Maybe with BO I'd understand but ... and don't start me on Navy Camo

Don't get me started on water camo! It looks cool on SAKs, but proved very impractical for a U.S. Navy uniform and was quickly banished to the annals of obsolescence.

Nice 111s, gents! :2tu:

Thanks Both, the colours on this are quite cool but I can easily see how you could lose it in the woods if you dropped or mislaid it.  And without a flotation aid surely Navy camo will be briefly visible (if you're lucky) before it disappears beneath the waves. I like the pattern but I just can't quite see what the designers were thinking.
