Day 30

110 opened a young coconut to celebrate this last day of challenge.

Nix, thank you yet again for a great challenge!  For many years, I had been using drop point and spear point knives and the 112 Ranger challenge last year reignite my love for clip point knives.  Sadly this year I was pretty much trapped indoor, so the 110 never did take on a patina that I'd like(112 did take on a real nice patina after a few hikes and sweaty hiking pants).

I really have a pretty good time using the knife, especially for food prep or on dinner table.  The 420HC did exceptional well with rust proofing, and it's so easy to maintain sharp.  Though I think I would prefer 112 as an EDC, without a doubt the eye catching clip point, brass bolster and lockback design of 110 will go down as one of the most iconic knife in US cutlery history.

p.s.  Free magnet announcement (please read!)

In case you've missed the announcement in mid challenge, everyone finishing the FOA IV challenge will be eligible to get a free magnet.   All you have to do is to private message me your address, and it will be sent to you once the magnet is made.  If you have participated in other challenges with magnets, I will probably have your address on file, so please don't worry about re-sending me your address unless you have moved since then.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I'm pretty sure it will work. I think their tools are all interchangeable at least the used to be. I used one in a Gerber MP and Poncho used one in a PST both with minor modifications.

Thanks. I'll give it a try and report back (in a SOG-related thread...).  :tu:

Nice magnets as always! The artwork is awesome

This challenge was really nice to follow and see a beautifull knife in so many great pictures! (Enough to fill a Buck 110 calendar)

Day 30  :ahhh
Thank you very much Jack (and MTOSS staff) for hosting an awesome challenge  :hatsoff:

And thanks to those who talked me into buying a Buck 110 and participating  :D

So what have I learned over the challenge?
I love it love it love it.
Although I don't need the full blade often, it actually works well still for most tasks where a smaller knife would do. The full size handle is a plus. Not to mention the rock solid lock and great build quality  :tu:

Using my DIY caddy made carrying it easy. The original sheath carries great too for me (tested on some hikes). I didn't mind the extra weight like that. The Buck 110 is my new outdoor favourite.
But I wouldn't limit it to just that.

I'm very happy with it... if there wouldn't be that guy who's showing off with various advantages of a certain swedge that's only available on clip-point versions  :twak:

This was a very fun challenge with you guys  :drink:

Day 30
This has been one of the easiest challenges I've participated in.  I can't think of anything bad to say about the Buck 110.  I think I'm going to miss it when I stop carrying it, but tomorrow starts a new month and a new challenge.

The Folding Hunter (other than a Buck 110) challenge is open to anyone with a knife that meets the same basic design parameters as the Buck 110 but is made by other companies. I will have to transition from the Buck 110 to the Schrade 60t (see the photo).  This may be an exceedingly difficult transition. I hope I can work through it. It might get emotional.

Fool's Day 30:

Well...we are coming to the end of another foolish challenge...   A big thanks to each and awl who helped to make this a fun and photo-filled month of 110's. You guys awl-ways make these challenges fun and worthwhile.  :hatsoff:

My enthusiasm for this knife remains undiminished. Once again I'm amazed by how the 110 seems to disappear into a pocket caddy. I used a back pocket caddy and, more often, a front pocket caddy. I used a belt sheath for a couple of days, but, without thinking about it, reverted to a pocket caddy.

I'd agree with everyone else that it is a bit bit for EDC....although I just EDC'd the thing for 30 days....  Regardless, it is a pleasure for me to use and I can't imagine not having one in the knife drawer to use for adventures.

zoidberg's experience is a bit concerning. (Did that issue get resolved or worsen?) Despite the rugged design of the 110, awl folders are subject to stress at the hinge. His experience reinforces a bias I have against folder and in favor of fixies. "Fixed blade knives don't start out broken."

I think I won't try to make a feather stick from dry-aged rebar now.......

Nevertheless, the 110 has been such a reliable and convenient companion for me that I expect my 110's will get more carry than most of my fixies. And I can't think of another folder that I enjoy using more. (Emphasis on 'using'.)

To celebrate this challenge, we are doing a second GAW of the Multotool.org 110 of 2021 as shown in the opening posts of this thread.  :woohoo:

I'll wait until everyone has had a chance to make his or her final post before compiling the list of (right honorable) fools who qualify for the drawing.

comis has generously sponsored the slick refrigerator magnets for this challenge and I'm stoked to see those go out once they are made.  :hatsoff:   :woohoo:

As usual any reimbursement claims for NSAID's, Tylenol, back braces, and chiropractic care used during the challenge should be submitted to Fuzzbucket. He knows how to deal with these issues promptly. I don't know the details, but he's mentioned something about an advance midden distribution system to resolve these things.   :tu:

Best of luck to each of you!   :tu:

How do you like it? I assume it's more efficient than a normal one.

i'm no clockwatcher when waiting on a boil but this thing is quick and didn't use a fraction of the fuel i prepared for it, free fuel too i might add, impressed so far  :tu:

Good for messin around outside will do me, mine is the Trecker so it's small enough to throw in a pack and good for just over 2 cups, i got the grill and hobo too for the days i want to cook something up  :tu:

It was 30 days of great posts, photos and an enjoyable glimpse into all your lives, wish I could have kept up the pace of acknowledging even a fraction of what went on, but Awl was read and enjoyed  :salute: :tu:

And a shoutout to Comis with the magnets, very much appreciated  :hatsoff:

Day 30 Bonus Pic!

This has been in the smoker since 10 o'clock this morning and will be ready for supper in another 4 hours. I'm also going to cook a couple of huge turkey wings which will be added to the smoker in a couple of hours since it's already going.

I didn't like all the small gas fired cookers available because I know how sensitive they can be to wind.
