Impact Driver - what adapter do you use?
on: February 10, 2021, 05:54:00 PM
I recently got my first impact driver and am loving it.   I bought a cheap set of 1/4" hex to socket adapters, and promptly wrecked the 1/4 socket one.  Turned out Erbauer are only rated to 80Nm and my impact is 270Nm.

I've now ordered a set of the DeWalt ones as they have done great in the YouTube tests I have watched,  and they are rated at 2000 inchLbs or 225 Nm so will be up to the task without being destroyed before I give it a couple of ugger duggers as he says on a certain YouTube channel.

So getting to the question, which ones do you use?

DeWalt was a good choice.

Check out Project Farm on YouTube.
Scan his video list.
This guy tests tools and other products.
His isn't  sponsored and gives an honest,  unbiased review.

BTW -  Project Farm recently  reviewed impact drivers and bits.

That is the main video I watched that made me choose DeWalt  :tu:

Halfrauds pro Kev, you break it, they replace it.

I suspected you were referring  to Project Farm.
Mentioned by name so others would be informed to check that YouTube  channel.

He finds lesser known brands of products  that may be better than the usual well known brands.
Trouble is finding those "off" brands easily.

Good idea, never thought of that.  If I break the dewalt ones I'll go for one of theirs.

I liked Farm Project video the Dewalt adapter looked real good. I have been using a Harbor Fright five dollar set of adapters they have been holding up well so far.

He does some great videos, and I like how he tries to take himself out of the equation so the testing is fair.

What do you use them for? Wheels or for general screwing/tightening of bolts around the house?

Originally it was to use 1/2" sockets with my impact driver, potentially for wheels, but mosly for screwing in hex headed sheeting screws & lag screws for rebuilding my trailer.  I've since got a 1/2" inpact gun for wheels and bigger bolts, so use the 1/4" hex to 1/4" square drive with 1/4 drive impact sockts ofr the sheeting screws and lag screws.
