Tents

Thanks for all the info chaps, and thanks for the offer Gareth..

been looking online and there appears to be no shortage of tents. we have 4/5 outdoors type shops
in my local town. i like the idea of a 3 man tent and a good brand.there seems to be good reductions
on them at the moment with the sales being still on.
Told the wife about this forum and that i will be buying a tent and then trying it out in the back garden
prior to the meeting..(she thinks i have had a bang on my head )

Good idea to try it out before them meet though, as you forget how bloody cold it can get

If you're gonna go the quality route, make sure the tent has a tub bottom (ie the seams with the tent walls are 20-30 cm up from the lower edge. If you're camping and your tent site becomes a puddle, you will greatly appreciate no seams at the ground level.

that sounds like good advice.i also read some were that the ground sheet can be a bit thin on cheaper tents..

I was under the impression we were going to be under cover

My £8.50 Asda tent done me ok . It rained quite abit but didn't leak . The only problem I had was I laid my sleeping bag out inside and when I opened the tent to get in the rain ran off into the bottom of the sleeping bag . It was so wet I couldn't use it . So next time I will unroll the sleeping bag once inside
