Thanks for all the info chaps, and thanks for the offer Gareth..
been looking online and there appears to be no shortage of tents. we have 4/5 outdoors type shops
in my local town. i like the idea of a 3 man tent and a good brand.there seems to be good reductions
on them at the moment with the sales being still on.
Told the wife about this forum and that i will be buying a tent and then trying it out in the back garden
prior to the meeting..(she thinks i have had a bang on my head ) :D :D

If you're gonna go the quality route, make sure the tent has a tub bottom (ie the seams with the tent walls are 20-30 cm up from the lower edge.  If you're camping and your tent site becomes a puddle, you will greatly appreciate no seams at the ground level.

I was under the impression we were going to be under cover

My £8.50 Asda tent done me ok . It rained quite abit but didn't leak . The only problem I had was I laid my sleeping bag out inside and when I opened the tent to get in the rain ran off into the bottom of the sleeping bag . It was so wet I couldn't use it . So next time I will unroll the sleeping bag once inside  ;)
