Sos -- I use peanut oil to make popcorn. High smoke temp. Which oil is working for you?

I just use some vegetable oil.  I thought about trying some coconut oil.

I've used coconut oil like this: I heat my peanut oil, add the popping corn, then add a bit of coconut oil. Works well, and the coconut oil adds some great flavor. I do it this way to prevent the coconut oil from scorching. I don't know that it is necessary, just the way I've tried it. I've never tried using pure coconut oil, but it may work well.   :dunno:

I already got almost all stuff.
(No farinha this time, no beans on GSMRE).
His favorite biscuits are on the list.
( He will enjoy all GSMRE)

Pumpkin seeds are a good choice for keto. It's a nice little bag and not even 2g of carbs for the whole bag. Resealable too.

Not sure if I'll add it to my mre, though I do not like the almonds I have. I'd rather have these. But I don't want to take pictures and write the menu again.

Those seeds look lush Reamer  :like:

Right. Clocking in at roughly 3000 Calories and a result of secretly stealing all the crews savings (what were they going to spend it on??), and a super secret trip out to the shops (under the cloak of a highly dangerous recon mission to investigate a potential island home (overun with laser zombies sadly)) I give you the UBGSMRE:

Nicely done, Mags!  That is quite respectable.

The caramels put a smile on my face. Those are classics in many an old C-rat and Pilot's survival kit. True MRE classics!

Yes, I'm glad I put a bit of a squeeze on you. And I can rest easy knowing the crew won't be wasting their money on cards, whisky, and cigs.

And you, look at the nutritional deficiencies you'll be rectifying with that grub! You might be able to see at night once more! That rash may clear up!

I feel we have a win-win-win here. Nicely done, Mags.

Those caramels are Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. Apparently they make and sell 6 million of them every week  :o. I couldn't decide between the Caramel water and the famous Tunnocks Teacake, but in the end the fragility of the domed teacake gave way to the robust bar of delicious Caramel.

Anyways, this is my GSMRE!

First and second run of popcorn making completed.

First run game out well enough, but was not the way to go.  I received some Firedragon gel that I decided to use.  The gel burns too hot so the mug had to be held up.  I also needed more cooking oil.  But still had a nice cup of popcorn in about 10 minutes.
(Image removed from quote.)

Second run was better.  This time over twig fire.  I started with brewing some Crio Bru (ground cocoa brewed like coffee).  Then used the remaining fire and coals to pop the popcorn.  Hot brewed cocoa and freshly popped popcorn made over a camp stove in under 20 minutes.

The wife decided that she wanted to taste test the popcorn.  It must have passed, because she ate half of it.

I still have a few more trials I want to do with changing some things up.  But I think I will still leave the already popped corn in the MRE.

Excellent stuff Sherry  :like:
