Small Tinker,,,, Early 80's?
on: May 16, 2021, 02:17:09 AM
Found this one at the fleamarket this morning. Broken main blade, but everything else is okay. No key ring, and doesn't look to be ground off. Small "V" in Victorinox. The seller was asking $6,,, but apparently didn't notice the broken blade. Wound up taking it home for $4.

Couple of noob question as I am new to the SAK stuff.

1- Is it early 80's vintage?
2- Did I do good?
3- Do I stand a chance of finding an accurate replacement blade for it,,, cheaply?

Thanks in advance

How did you open that stub of a main blade?  What's the plan?  Rebuild?

Congrats on this find! I love these older square Philips! They add much better into the handle body than the new ones. You can send the knife to Victorinox and ask for a new blade with VSSR stamp. Or depending on the skill, you can replace the blade yourself. A replacement blade from a cheap 84mm Model should not be a problem. Age determination is not mine, sorry

Oh yeah,, thanks for the reminder that I needed to post a pic in the "what did you use it for today" thread. I used a Waiter to dig it out enough that I could grab it.

Yes, I'm thinking rebuild at this point. I tucked it away until I can find a VSSR donor blade, then I reckon I'll have a go at it myself.
