A little while ago @FolderBeholder sent me a beater old cross Pioneer that she had.  Its blade was really short from over-sharpening and its awl was broken.  I was looking for some mod fodder to make an OC Pioneer X, but I still didn't have the scissors.  Then @DansGearAddiction modded his 2021 Pioneer X LE into a Pioneer, thus freeing up his scissors.  I bought these from him, and sent Lisa's SAK plus two other Pioneers I had to a very gifted modder (not sure he wants me to post his name, so I will ask him first) to have a few Pioneer-derived SAKs built.  They turned out great and I could not be happier. 


First is an OC Pioneer X with Elinox blade and brass liners.  Look at the beautiful peening job on the pins!  Much better than I could've done myself. 






Second is a screwed-together Old Cross Pioneer.  This SAK started out as Lisa's beater Pioneer.  I replaced the broken awl and over-sharpened blade with implements from a '98-marked OC Pioneer that I had.  My modder friend drilled out the implements and used brass set screws and a brass liner to screw it together.  It's awesome!




And finally, I used the very pocket-worn scales from the '98 Pioneer and had my modder friend make a single-layer package and letter opener SAK to live in the kitchen junk drawer.  He put a new blade in it and it looks great!

Cool work, Myron! They all look fantastic! I’ve done a couple of screw in pioneer mods, but not one involving peening yet - I suspect it’s beyond my meagre skills, so  :hatsoff: to your peening meister! :like: :like: :drool:

Nice.  The single layer w/ Awl reminds me of the Seaman in lieu of a Marlin Spike.

These came out fantastic! The modder did great work and I was glad to see someone could find use for the extra parts!
