Removing scales
on: January 20, 2009, 12:03:18 PM
Hey guys,

Got a little project I need to do. I got me a OHT Bundeswehr for Xmas last year. Like an idjit I managed to mess up the tolerances of the main blade by batoning it through wood (don't ask).

So now it has a fair bit of up and down play when the lock is engaged.

My thinking was to source a regular one (hopefully cheap) and then swap the scales around.

How tricky is it to remove and replace scales on these knives?

The other option is to send it in for repairs but I bought this knife from an online vendor (SOSAK online) so I have no idea where to send it to.

Its a great tool and I use it all the time so I want it to work right!

First of all SOSAK is not a shop but what you are referring to is Felinevet (Tim) who sells through SOSAK and is the best SAK trader in he world bar none.  :tu:

With Victorinox repairs all tools need to be returned to Vic themselves and they will do it for you.   Because of your location I am not exactly sure where the best place is, but I'm sure someone will be along soon with some ideas.  :)
I'm back!!

That's right - FelineVet it was! Sponsors here I think.

I would prefer to return it to Victorinox ideally. I'm pretty sure I will cock up the scales transplant!
