The Go BIG Challenge
on: June 13, 2021, 04:10:52 PM
Welcome to... The Go BIG Challenge.

This is a Swiss Champ Challenge!  :SAKnight:

Barry and Phil were thinking about a Swiss Champ Challenge, so this is really their fault.

Typically specific model challenges are run for 30-days; however, that is a problem for the mighty Swiss Champ. It has too many tools.

The excess of tools doesn't make it hard to carry. Not at awl. But it has too many tools to be able to use them awl in one 30-day period. To do the Champ justice we need to go BIG. The Champ is a big multitool and it deserves big time.

This will be a 60-day challenge. If you haven't been in training for a challenge of this size, I would not join in. For safety's sake, I thought about limiting this challenge to those who have previously completed three or more 30-day challenges. However, this is MTo and we try to be inclusive. The challenge is open to awl who have a Swiss Champ. If you become overwhelmed, you can drop out. I expect that not awl will reach the finish line. That is OK. Just signing up is a mark of honor for any Swiss Army Knight.

 :SAKnight:

Challenge rules:

• The challenge will run from 01 August 2021 through 30 September 2021.
• The challenge actually covers 61 days. Participants are allowed to take one (1) recovery day, but must participate for the other 60 days of the challenge.
• Every day (except your recovery day) carry a Swiss Champ and post a photo of said multitool in this thread.
• Please label each official daily post so the mods can follow your progress easily, e.g. "Day 45: taking my recovery day. Just carrying an Alox Classic."
• Please comment, share stories, and recount your expereinces as you make your way through the challenge.
• After completing the challenge, if you can still type, please let us awl know how your two month challenge went. Is the Swiss Champ the right tool for you?

Sign up below!*  :SAKnight:

* Participation is voluntary. MTo bears no responsibility for members having excessive fun with a marvel of a SAK during this challenge.

I'm hoping that if we get enough people to sign up for this challenge that we can apply for a Swiss Champ 60 badge.   :tu:

I'm expecting that I'll be doing this challenge just with Barry.....  :D

Sounds great... but first let me see if I even own a SwissChamp... I do know I have a Champion somewhere, but a SwissChamp?

Glen..... Dude...

(Image removed from quote.)

I did have one, but a couple of years ago I harvested a couple of SAKs for parts to make mods. The SwissChamp may have fell victim to this  :dwts:

Sorry folks, 60 days would be about 30 days too overwhelming for me. I am afraid I don't have what it takes to be an iron knight

I think the XLT Champ is still a Champ.

But.....11 layers?  Is it really possible to carry that for 30-days...let alone 60?    :dwts:

I've been carrying my old SC most of the last year, just recently took a few layers less with my Detective, and Pocket Rocket this month, but SC is my regular carry so I'd be game for 61 days! May even take it up a notch a few days with an XLT

Of course.

In not so strange times it is my EDC!

11 layers feel familiar.

Way to throw down the gauntlet.  I'd dive in the shallow end head first, except that August/September are the peak of hurricane season, and I usually get preoccupied with other things.  Still, I've had my SwissChamp on me 24/7 before, during, and after storms.

I'm quite attached to my resurrected Explorer and don't know if I can give it up for 60 days.  :(  Though I carry my Swiss Champ when out, it's the Explorer at home. (And Mini Champ all the time!)

Even if I don't participate, I'll still follow along for the stories.
SAKs:
58mm: Bijou (3), Classic SD (7), Mini Champ Plus (mod), Alox Classic SD, Rambler (3), Companion
