Day 31 :tu:

This swisschamp is just hard to beat.

Today I used the main blade and saw to cut grass and brush to camo the blinds, the scissors to cut cable ties and the chisel to remove a firing pin retainer from a buddies AR. Planned to get a cool pic cutting brush but had to hurry due to bald face hornet threat.  :ahhh
So here's the champ after loading the decoy trailer.

Great pics today everyone!

Day 31 of 60:

Our air quality this morning was listed as being "Good", but the forecast is for more smoke. I made a quick hike up a local hill, more to stretch my legs than anything else. The haze was already starting to settle in......

(Image removed from quote.)

Still, a nice morning hike in mild temps and a gentle sun.

(Image removed from quote.)

Great scenery! I really need to take a trip out west!

Day 31 of 60 (bonus action shots...with fire):

Before we get to the fiery bits, a little main blade action. Dressing out some store-caught bratwursts.

Too easy.

Earlier, Fast Bill was curious about the Fire Ant and Tinder. I was, too. Because of wildfire restrictions, I can't make a campfire in the woods, but I can use the home grill......

I prepped some wood shavings to use with the Ant and tinder. After a few months in the S'champ's corkscrew and a month in my pocket, the exterior of the tinder was a bit fuzzed up, but overall it was intact.  :tu:

I fluffed up the tinder and trapped it on a fireboard with the saw:

It took two....only two...scrapes on the saw to spark the tinder and get it lit. (First scrape to remove the blue coating, I suppose.)

Fire raging.....

This was a somewhat surprising result. Two strikes...fire.  This little ferro device is ready for another fire...or 1000....

Fire and Brats got used together as seen here in the Diner on the Weber thread.

Great challenge guys! Congrats for the first month!
That's a lot of good actions and pictures here!

Good see the fire ant in action Nix! Looks good.
Waiting for the release of Fire Ant here...
(Our Vic dealer must be waiting for some benevolent action by our over bureaucratic customs).

Hope the fire season end soon in Montana.

Day 32: A tradition of my son's Boy Scout Troop is presenting the new Eagle Scout with an inscribed Kabar at his court of honor.  The Swisschamp opened the box containing this beautiful knife.

Now that's a nice troop  :like:

The Fire Ant was a nice surprise for me too. From my experience the rod seems to last fairly well, especially for its size. Depending on what you are going to lit just a piece of the tinder is enough.  :tu:

Day 32

Pool cleaner needed some maintenance. The gearing was clogged with palm fronds. SC pliers was able to get into the tight spaces.  :salute:

Day 32

Today the dog and the swisschamp took me and my buddies goose hunting. The champ cut cheese and venison salami for breakfast after setup. Fish scaler helped to clear a failure to eject on a buddies gun. 5 hunters and 24 Canada geese. Great day afield. I used the champ to clean the first 2 geese to see how it went. It worked just fine, but the fillet knife was definitely easier. Awl works great for digging out stray shot too.
