The DC3 was a very cool plane. I've been able to fly a few times in a DC3--there is a rugged thrill and sense of fun flying in those old workhorses!
We called the Dak the Vomit Comet...was a great aircraft

Day 16 of 60:

Lawn mowing day (hoping to get rain tomorrow.). So, fresh air filters for the respirator. A full gas mask would offer the eyes some protection too, but at least I wasn't choking.....

I know that plane!  In addition to the DC3, my Dad flew the civilianized version of it, the Lockheed Loadstar, many years back.  Looks like a great book Phil.  Now for the manicure....

That's interesting Barry sounds like your Dad had a few tales to tell. I started by reading a bit about Operation Oyster in which the RAF flew that aircraft as the Lockheed Ventura and from there via a curiosity about US Navy flying jackets wanted to learn more about this rather inhospitable theatre of WW2. This should link to a very interesting wartime documentary. The amount of water on the runway is astounding !

He did indeed my friend.  I actually like the US Navy Flying Jacket over the A2, just for the looks alone.  My favorite is the RAF flying jacket with the beautiful fur collar :D

For Day 17, I used the pliers to adjust the nose pieces on my eye glasses.

Bill, not much in the river now. In a few weeks the salmon should show up. We are catching them out on lake Michigan right now, camping on the river.

I have to say the M-422A / G-1 flying jackets are much more practical in the cockpit with their bi-swing back in preference to the A-2. I picked up a vintage M-422A from a chap on your side of the pond and I wear it from time to time. It is a great jacket but I am careful with what is now a piece of history. I'm never quite sure about the mouton collar but, hey, if it works for Kelly McGillis it works for me

The RAF Irvin though is just great.
